To my knowledge, The AC model never came any way but bound natural ash.

Welcome to the TDPRI, theblues!

Buckshot is right: If it is a Candy Apple Red, it is not an original Albert Collins.

They all look like mine: :D
http://home.online.no/~ge-fj/AC1.jpg
(I post as an URL, becaue the picture is too large for this page.)

Notice the white double binding, w/b/w three ply pickguard, the neck humbucker, the glossy neck, and it should have a staggered bridge pickup and the Custom shop logo on the back on the headstock and on the neck plate which should also have a CN prefix serialnumber.

The real thing would sell for $1600 and upwards. And they are great guitars. Great pickups, great neck (if you like'm glossy), excellent finish. Not to mention the double binding!!!

If you can post a picture, (or a link if it is an auction), we may be able to tell you what you are looking at. I saw one like it in eBay recently and the seller the said Albert Collins in the title, but in the ad the said "like" an Albert Collins, and then explained why his was the a "better investment", because it was the only one of its kind. I would not fall for that one...

EDIT!: A quick edit: That one is up on eBay again. Doesn't say Albert Collins in the title anymore, but the text says: "This is the essentially the Albert Collins model presently offered by Fender and was another limited run "Custom Shop" piece." Not.

Geir :)

Keep us posted! Even if it is not an authentic AC it may be a great guitar, and even worth the money. Also, in theory it could be a refinished AC, although I find that less than likely...

Oh, and I almost forgot, the AC tele like all artist models should have his signature, it is on the tip of the headstock. You can see it in my picture under the high e tuner.

Geir :)

Hay you too! Now if you really want it, I am sure I could find something in the shack worth trading it for... :D

It is my best guitar (of any make and model) ever, so far. But the Tux should be only a couple of weeks away now. And I have started buying the parts for dream project number 2!!! (No, I ain't telling.)

    Geir :)
