My Broadcaster clone project, first look!

I just wanna share my excitement here... Just came back from my luthier and here she is. Raw and a bit bloody but still looking just fine! She's gonna be a Finnish hand made Broadcaster clone. 8)

Mmmmm... There is definitely something about that first look on a freshly cut unfinished body, knowing that one day that will be your dream project come true.

Look forward to more pictures along the way!

Geir :)

That is sharp! Really nice grain lines. Is that a one piece body?
Can't wait to see the rest.

No that's two pieces of ash, centerjoined. Very resonant and a bit on the heavy side.

Sami, just in case you're interested...

Peter UK, another member here at TDPRI (you've seen his posts, no?) made an unbelievably incredible Broadcaster facsimile with many of the parts from period-correct manufacturers. You might want to confer with him and compare "production" notes.

That is going to be one beautiful guitar, judging by that body's ash grain. You must keep us informed of the progress!

Joel

The wood looks great. Are you going to make it a relic or keep it looking new?

I'm starting a Tele project myself... not sure exactly how I want it done.... One good thing about building a Tele, and not a strat: is the plank is a LOT easier to cut and rout...

To relic or not to relic? That's the question.

Dunno yet, I'll decide after I see it finished. Maybe a closet classic relic would be enough. I'm not going to make people believe it's an original Broady, but we're gonna make it a player and relic it by playing it a lot!

Hi Freewheeler!

That body sure looks nice :D Who is the luthier in question? How's the neck, is your luthier going to make you one?

I got a spare SD Vintage Broadcaster bridge pup...

Keep us updated with pics please and good luck with the project.

Replicas

Built a couple of replicas in the past few months, a Broadcaster initially and then two Esquire clones. Used original parts from '50 Fender lapsteels, necks and bodies from Elliot Mechanic.
Here's some picture links.
