2001 American fender Telecaster question

I want to buy a used 2001 CHROME RED american telecaster with maple neck. I have a bunch of pictures of it (i am buying long distance), but am unable to determine exactly what kind of red finish is used. I would like to know if it is the exact same model as the one currently in production. I saw the 2005 chrome red model at my local music store and fell in love with it, but had to look the other way because of the price tag. I am specifically looking for that shiney metallic red finish like the one this chap is playing: http://www.start-something.net/gall/...album=5&pos=52

is this the same color as the 2001 model? please answer quickly, i have a limited time to make my decision. Thanks!!!

The only red offered on the 2001 American Series Tele was Hot Rod Red (color 15). Chrome Red (color 725) was not offered. They are not the same colors, but I haven't compared them side by side. But if the ones I've seen are any example, neither are as shiny in normal light as the one in your photo link.

Chrome red is the color in your link. Dave is right, an '01 would be Hot Rod Red, nice color, but not metallic. Just a nice glossy red that in my opinion, is about half way in between Dakota red and Fiesta Red. I like the color ALOT, but it is not Metallic like the Chrome red. Your just a little too late. I just sold a Chrome Red Am. Series tele for $600.00.

I would venture to say that the color there, is in fact, chrome red. Lighting and poor pic quality are making it look orange. Looks like it's got an SD hot rail in the bridge position. If you like that pick up, you wouldn't have to upgrade.

Good luck,
Jake

Uh... I think you're asking the wrong guy? I sold mine, and it was an '03... My guess is that you meant to ask about Chrome Red's tele. My best guess is that maybe he misread the serial? I dunno...

Dear Sirs,

I am not fooling You ...

The serial number in my chrome red starts with Z0, so it is 2000 made, at least the maple neck.

Yours truly,

chrome

Chrome, are you positive the color on your guitar is actually chrome red? Did you buy it new, or are you relying on someone else's word about the color? Frontline isn't 100% reliable since there are mid-year changes sometimes, but I don't see chrome red listed anytime before 2002. Fender does rotate colors in and out of their lineup, but I don't recall ever seeing chrome red before that.

I just sold a 1997 Am Std Telecaster. Metallic Red. Let it go cheap because it had a replacement neck on it. It weighed about 10 pounds tho. Heavier than my Jaguar.

Hey guys...

do not You believe me? I will not chip my tele in order to prove You the chrome red. I am the the first owner of my Tele. and when I ordered it, the chorme red shade was available.
That is another thing if the body is made in 200x and the neck 2000 ... no way to prove that.

This one had a really cool factory primer gold finish under the red. Blazing saddles and Warmoth boat neck.
