Howdy yall!!
My name is Barb and I just became a new member! I live in the wonderful capital of South Carolina and I have been playing a Tele for better part of the last 20 years. My sweetie is Bill, and not only did he buy me this laptop for my birthday so I could log on he also bought me a new Telecaster. Well its not actually new as its about 5 or 6 years old, but Bill wanted me to retire my other one. The frets were getting worn and he says he didn't want anyone working on it. My old one is a blond from around 1966 with the maple board on the neck. My new one is a Deluxe with a nice red color and white binding around the edge and 3 pickups to boot! I can see that there is a lot of stuff to read here and that is where I am going to start. I hope to have an avanter soon as one of my girlfriends says she found something that would look a lot like me when she finishes doctorin it up. I don't know about that but I guess I will just have to wait and see.
Thank all of you for putting up with my first post. I hope to get better as time goes all. Bless all of you and have a dandy weekend! |

Howdy Barb! I love Columbia. I used to do business there once a month and I would stay downtown at the Mariott. A lady named Polly Carter (if I remember correctly) used to play guitar in the lounge.
Oh gee, this was 20 years ago!!!

Welcome aboard. You'll be hanging with what seems to be a pretty nice group of Telefanatics.
Back in '72 I bought myself one of those blonde, maple-capped '67 guitars. Like you, I'm a little shy about taking it out these days. It is a mighty fine guitar. |

Welcome, enjoy your stay, and may it be a long one. The folks around here are the nicest bunch of tele-obsessed people on the internet.

Thank you!
Wow you guys are just sweeties for making a gal feel welcome! I dont know about pictures cause we shipped my old guitar last week to my folks to keep as there is not much room in the apartment here. we are hurting for room and with Bills and my amps and guitars packed in the corner of the front room it looks enough of a mess as is.
Old Fuzzy you sure do type funny. It confused me at first but when i sounded it out loud I could understand what you were saying. Im still giggling over Kolly-forn-knee-ya. Durtdog I always heard it wasnt nice to call someone a geechee. I don't know why they call us SC folks sandlappers as there aint much sand in Columbia. Staxman! My girlfriend Janice lives just this side of Sumter! This is a small world and your all the way over in WA. No wonder your homesick. Sorry but Bill just got back so I have to go run some errands cause we got to play tonight. Thank you all so very much. You are all so very nice! |
