Is this tele nick pickup usable without fixing?
Well I bid on a pair of american vintage pups on ebay and they are separate auctions. I only bid $11.50 apiece and had no expectation of winning but there doesn't seem to be much interest in them so far. The only thing wrong with them is one of the neck pickup's screw holes is a bit F'ed up. Is it usable like this or will it have to be fixed up. I was really planning on getting a Fralin blues special for the neck and a HD super 90 for the bridge but if I could get these for only $25 shipped it'd be a good deal. It'll probably go way high in the last day like all ebay auctions but I was just wondering about the neck pup.

Email the guy and ask if the holes will still thread a standard mounting screw. The plastic is fairly soft and will easily thread itself if the hole isn't actually too large.
See what the guy says. I've always found him OK to talk to and he has good feedback. He's unlikely to sell anything that isn't usable. If they don't take a screw then it depends on how handy you are. I'd try something like a dab of epoxy resin, or something, in the hole and then redrilling. Even a bit of superglue around the edge of the hole could do it. Someone around here will probably have some cute trick for such a situation. |
