Pulled the Tele out last night
Last night I went about my weekly Tuesday-night ritual: playing at the local blues jam. This time, for the first time in months, I brought my Tele. I plugged straight into my "Pro-Fudge" (1x15, 6L6's, 35W, VTBM, tweaked-AB763 circuit, in an Allen Amps Hot Fudge chassis and cabinet). It was like coming home. The guitar felt good and sounded terrific. I had many compliments on the tone. I don't intend to give up my other guitars, but my "Tele-appreciation" has been renewed.

My tele sounds great through my Allen (sweet spot) too. A near perfect union.

Tele + Allen = yep yep yep
As both of you guys know, I've had an Allen Hot Fudge w/Nuts for a while now, and I normally use LP or Strat.
Just recently I acquired a CIJ Antigua Tele...now the LP and Strat are fighting for equal time. I think brownface-type circuits are especially well-suited to the Tele sound. Not that other circuits come up sort, because they certainly don't; but there's something about that brownface-just-on-the-edge sound that is very sweet, detailed, and juicy. One of the cool things about David's amps is that no matter which Fender circuit a particular Allen amp is patterned after, it seems the player is afforded the means to dial in some great non-typical BF tones via a variety of ways, such as RAW control, Soul control, etc. |
