Flew 4000-miles to meet a fellow TDPRI-er

I'm delighted to share with you that I met a fellow TDPRI-er on Friday night and had a fabulous night of beer, wine, food and of course, Tele talk. :D

My wife has often joked that we're a bunch of cyber geeks all with too much time on our hands, but she also enjoyed meeting Leo, aka Blueblood, and his partner Chris a couple of nights ago when we (my wife Bev, son Thomas and daughter Phoebe) arrived in Tampa for 2-weeks vacation.

The story starts several months ago when Leo and I had exchanged PMs and planned to meet to talk Teles. A sort of Anglo-American Tele fest. The plans, however, were firmed up when Leo offered to pick up an amp which I'd bought on eBay and the music store from whom I bought it was just a few miles from Leo's home. I asked him if he'd check it out but he suggested that, not only would he check it out but he'd actually drive the 40-minutes to Tampa where we were staying overnight and deliver it personally. It turns out that the store - Encore Music in Port Richey - is his favourite local store and the guys in there knew him well.

So we had a great night. A couple of beers, a good meal and a great cabaret from Chris who does great impressions of Blanche from the Golden Girls, a convincing Patsy Cline and her Sears Sales patter which could "convince" anyone to take the extra cover and just about anything they bought from her in the Lawns and Gardens department!

Leo, thanks for your help with the amp and many thanks fro taking the time to coming down to see us on Friday. It was so much fun. Our loves and kisses to Chris.

It's a Small, small world. Indeed!

:D Peter

PS. Chris did take a picture - in fact several - but after posing for what seemed like dozens of pictures and the flash not flashing, we may look a little strained and tired if Leo manages to post one! Leo???

Beer and tele talk sounds like a great time! Check this out. I've taught at the Austin Guitar School for a couple of years, and one of the guys I work with, and whom I also take lessons from, is Blanch's son in real life. His name is Mark Bish and he is a mind blowing jazz player. I just thought you might get a kick out of that!

I know Mark and I've taken lessons from him as well. He's a heck of a player and a great guy. Your post reminds me that I need to give him a call. Thanks!

I agree!!! I just came back from Antwerp and I had the chance again to meet with my friend and fellow TDPRIer Jef. Sadly, the whole week was just work and more work so I didn't have time to go to his house and check out his baritone Tele (he even made the neck himself!) and his Marshall 18 wannabe and 5E3 clones....
We did have the chance to enjoy a few Belgium beers,

and a huge hang over in my way back to airport at 7:00 next morning... It still hurts...

Peter, like Mr. Hullett says...

I can't wait until you, Bev, Thomas, and Phoebe find some time to perhaps come up to Nashville in the future. We will definitely roll out the red carpet for you all, and show you a great time here.

(Then again, maybe I should get my bum down to Florida whenever you guys come to the States? If you can come 4,000 miles, I can go 500 miles, wot? :D)

Peter, may you and yours have a very restful and relaxing (and fun) holiday, my friend. I hope all the Floridians are showering much hospitality, kindness, and care on you, the missus, and the kids.

Take care,
Joel
