ESP 400 Telcaster Custom

Just got this ESP 400 series Telecaster Custom guitar a few weeks ago for the measly sum of $250 plus shipping. The previous owner must have used it for a chemistry experiment as a stand for the bunsen burner. Yes that's a giant burn mark on the face - goes right into the wood. It's covered when I play it though.

Binding is nicely yellowed all around. The bridge plate is rusted out, as well as the grooved steel saddles. The jack cup needs some tweaking - I get a buzz coming from the jack from time to time - looks like a job for Electrosocket! The bridge pickup is FEEELTHY (GROSS). Both neck and bridge (together and separately) sound nice. Both have cloth covered leads and no markings. Don't know if they're original or not.

I replaced the neck with a soft vee USA Custom tele style neck I had lying around - the original neck's profile was a bit too thin for my current taste. It also needs a fret dress - lots of divots in them.

I was thinking about putting in a neck humbucker in as a tribute to Andy Summers, especially since the thing is not in the most pristine condition. Bought a pickguard from Guitarfetish, but it doesn't quite fit. I'll have to do some cutting/filing to get it on right.

Well worth the money spent.. and it's already relic'd!

Cool score Andy. I've always like the ESPs. In fact, let me knwo if you want to part with the old ESP neck.

Play the heck out of that thing and have fun!
