Schecter PT Teles
I have an oppertunity to purchase a Schecter Diamond Series PT Vintage Tele, one of the few with single coils instead of the usual HB's. SunBurst, Duncan Design Singles, Grover's, usual tele set up. While I never heard any negative comments about Schecters I though I'd get real dirt on them here. The price is right thus the purchase. I realize it's not a Fender and Made in Korea, but some fine guitars come from over sea's as we all know. Any comments...positive or negative?

I like schecter guitars. I have played the PTs befor and i dig them. I have never got to try out the one with singel coils but I really liked this one they have called the PT Flashback. Kinda has a TV Jones style pickup in the neck with a Double Bound Body, jumbo frets, grover tuners, and a coil tap. Also kinda a fan of their C-1 style guitars. somewhat PRSish without shelling out the $$$. They seem like a well built guitar with nice tops and harware. I would chose one over an Ibanez any day of the week. The only thing I do not like all too much is the thin neck. I like a neck that has a little beef to them. besides that i say if the price is right go for it!

I've been looking for the bolt on version of the PT ever since they took them out of production. I've been kicking myself for a long time for not snapping one up at the $259 blow out price when GC wanted to get rid of a bunch of them a couple of years ago. Great guitars for a great value.

What's the price Sarge? If it's $250 or less, grab it. They are great cheap guitars. You'll just have to change the pickups. The DD's suck big time. (IMHO, YMMV)

I owned a Schecter C-1 with a Floyd Rose for a brief time, but it turned out to be no good, so that's when I took it in to the guitar shop and traded it in for my very first Fender Telecaster. I'd say it was a good choice to make

Jake.........
$280 shipped w/ gig bag. I contacted Schecter with the serial# and it is the older "Vintage " model. It's very clean, as far as swaping pick-ups....I'm going to enjoy it for a while before making any decisions. You know, guitar tone is in the player, I might like the stock pups...however, I do have a set of Texas Specials in my parts box if needed.
Thanks for all the comments people. |

I decided to pass on the tele. $280 is a bit steep for the Schecter if the pick ups are that bad. I have several other tele's that get the job done. Maybe if he would come down a bit....we'll see.
