Telemaster you'd want to dual with on stage.
Okay all of us have fantasies, some will come true and some will never. But if you could get on stage and play with some well known Telemaster and do a Jamm where the both of you would exchange solos, who would it be?
In my case it would be this guy. ![]() I got into Brad Paisley through his rompin' an' stompin' cover of ZZ-Top's "Sharp Dressed man" And sometimes I find myself playing along with that version and solo through the Violin Part and then let go of the fretboard when Brad solo's. But as all of the players who attended the Dutch TDPRI meeting will tell you, I am no chicken picker, Brad would leave no splinter of me intact if I tried to compete with him on that level. However, if I play the Surfer/Rockabilly style I do have and use the reverb on full I can hold my own while adding some other sound to the song. Oh well I can dream...

Oooh, tough one
Jeff Buckley Graham Coxon Jonny Greenwood Frank Black And my friend Bed, just to see who can get the most out of thier Tele. I'll win of course, he favours his Les Paul, whereas I favour my Tele over everything else. I know how they work

Albert Collins Baby!!!
Albert C and Kenny Blue Ray ( when he's playing his pinecaster ) would do the trick for me thank you very much!
Except for the word "duel".....I would prefer "interplay". |

Tell ya what, I was lucky enough to play with Danny onstage on several occasions, and it was like trying to surf a tsunami: fun, but definitely not for the faint of heart. ;-) And it wasn't like he was trying to be mean, or have a "cutting contest" or anything even remotely like that, it was just him having musical fun. I'd play a line, he'd play it back in double stops – at twice the speed. Yipes. Or we'd play a twin part on something like "Remington Ride" – and he'd play two harmony parts at once, grinning ear to ear. Just... scary. =:-O
Meanwhile, I'm with Fuzzy: Quote:

Fuzzy, you're welcome. Hopefully, ole Richard won't feel nekkiid too much longer...
I got to play for a minute or two with James Burton at a NAMM booth when I was with *that* company. I played all three of the country licks I know, and I repeated them a couple of times! James is a very nice guy and can still play up a storm... |

gentlemen pay attention
Evening all,
I think that Tim has it right. Like ya'll, I think I got fire in my belly, but truth be told, I'd rather play with a great songwriter and singer than have to chase my tail around all night long. And if I could play with one of my favorite tele players it would be Tommy Emmanuel, who's better known as an incredible acoustic picker (not just my opinion, chet thinks so too,) but kicks serious butt on an old bound custom. good tone to all, rk |

Of course, I wouldn't be caught dead or alive trying to match solos with any of 'em or take a solo of my own in front of 'em. I'd kinda like to keep a shred of dignity, thanks. :D (Hey, I just live down the road a piece from Mr. B. Hullett himself. He's practically a neighbor. Do you still think I'd ever even take my Telecaster out of its case in front of him? No way! :P ) Joel |

I'm not one for duelin', but I WOULD like to just jam with a few folks. Kind of a, "let's go out to the garage, have a few beers, and play some guitar" kind of thing.
I would love to play ping pong with John Beland. That would be alot of fun. Alot of the guys I would love to pick with aren't really tele players though. I'd give up favorite parts of my anatomy to have a jam with Dickie Betts. That would be my all time high. I would also dearly love to go out to the tele shack and spend some time pickin' with Fuzzy. I think that could turn into a great "lost afternoon". I have got to meet you someday Fuzzy. As an aside, the most fun I ever had on a stage with another guitar player, was down in Dallas in the spring of '98. I went to a jam night and ended up rippin' it up with Hash Brown for about a half hour. It was two teles, two tube amps, and more fun than anybody should ever be allowed to have. He was a helluva nice guy too. Does anybody know if he still does that jam at the Hole In The Wall on thursday nights? Jake

Gatton cured me
like Chris....I played with Danny a few times....and it was like being dragged around by a fast horse...for ME anyhow..........As a matter of fact the first time I played with him...I thought I was a pretty hot player...I changed my mind within seconds of starting the first song....and by the end of the set I realized not only was I not a "hot" player....I had to redefine "hot"....All this was about 24 years ago......I still play with almost anybody that'll let me....but to go see any one of my favorites....just seeing and hearing them is plenty good enough for me....

A couple years ago Redd came and sat in with my band for a whole night. I've never had so much fun getting my ass kicked!
A couple weeks later I went skydiving with a friend, and before we got on the plane my wife asked if I was scared. I told her that after playing with Redd skydiving wasn't ****! |
