Greasebucket HWY 1 Tele's?????

I just read where the new HWY 1's have a new Greasebucket circuit, and maybe different p/u's? The blurb in the new MF just says it cuts the highs without altering the bass. Has anyone tried these out yet?

I read the same thing. I hope its a good change, I would'nt change a thing about mine. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Seriously, I would like to hear some reports on 'em. I'd love to add a "Hwy.2" to my collection. MW

Greasebucket circuit?

Looked at MF online... couldn't find anything.

Cuts the highs without altering the bass... sounds like a plain old tone circuit to me - maybe a higher cap value?

MF ad says:

"Rolls off the highs, without adding bass!"

Sounds like a treble bleed mod to me. Where you solder a .002 cap and a 150k resister in parallel between the in and out lugs of the vol pot.

It's a good mod...I've done it on all my Tele's.

Odd how Fender's been trying to "fix it" since 1952, and it was fine then.

I'm glad I picked up a Highway 1 Tele when I did. One of the reasons I bought it is because the volume and tone circuits worked like they were supposed to, with no "delta tone" or "S-1" nonsense. So much for that.

I heard next year they're replacing all of the ridiculous and outdated Telecaster bridges and bridge pickups with a Floyd Rose and a Duncan Invader. Even on the reissues.

I picked up a "Frontline Extra 2005" last week and it says:

All Highway One Stratocaster guitars now feature the NEW Greasebucket Tone Circuit...
* Rolls off the highs, without adding bass!
* Allows for a thicker sound that cuts!

No pics or comments about Tele's having a Greasebucket.

Yep - along with that old-fashioned headstock (Fender are reportedly going Charvel-style "pointy" headstock from now on - it'll blend in with the sharksfin fret markers which are replacing those ridiculously outdated dots apparently).

I also understand that the body is to be replaced with a more modern contoured double-cutaway style, with an SG-style bat-wing pickguard. The tone & volume knobs are now to be black plastic "bell" shape as per the Gibbo 335.

But hey - the Telecaster never really has caught on in its current form, has it?

Greasebucket circuit

I don't know nuttin about no greasebucket circuit on the Highway 1 Teles, but If their anything like the HWy 1 Strats, then I want one!. My Hwy 1 Strat plays as smooth as any of the higher priced Strats I've played, and the tone is just right! :)
