Ochanomizu

There are many guitar shops all over Tokyo but this area has many within a few blocks all near the train stop. I bought a '71 RI CIJ (of all things) at the Ishibashi shop here, best tele I have ever had, my CS '59 Esquire is now for sale at 'the' local shop here in SF, sorry guys. Expect very small guitar shops packed tight (small pieces of foam in between so they will not scratch) with new and used guitars. I'm ready to go back and get another one, maybe a 50's RI?
Have Fun,
Hugh

well looks like you won`t be coming to Sendai... nobody does. Too bad.
I do my guitar shopping up here...less choice but less competition too. Look for the custom editions specially made for chain shops... the Big Boss chain has some real nice teles made for them with Duncans and colors found solely on those models... theres a sonic blue and a burgundy mist that look great.
Plus... see if you can find an ExTrad... cery rare but top notch.
While you`re in country... you have got to play some Van Zandts and Seymour Duncans... try everything from his Traditional series on up... real nice guitars. Both of these are not cheap but they are exceptional.
Eat the natto...if you dare. Remember...food tastes better when it`s trying to get away.
A bit of advice I got when I first arrived... some Japanese girls will like you because you`re a foreigner...some girls won`t have anything to do with you because you`re a foreigner. A bit over simplified perhaps but turned out to be true for me most of the time.

just got back!

ochanomizu was indeed a good place to go, a few blocks with just guitar shops :) they even had an extrad in one of the shops, but it was a bit modified...sounded awesome though. in general i loved japan, the shows were great and the food as well - nobody dared to try natto though...chickenhearts were the closest thing to eating anything strange, hehe.
