Humbucker Tele's
Hey,
I've recently given an order for an American Standard Telecaster. I would like to know if it is possible to fit a humbucker in the neck position. Is there a routing/cavity for a humbucker under the pickguard? What has to be done to fit one in the neck position? Thanks beforehand :) Cheers.. |

The American standard comes w a humbucker route in the neck and middle pickup route. Check out pics on ebay search for American standard telecaster body and the stratospheres auctions will pop up

I have a Duncan Antiquity full size humbucker in the neck of my American tele. The guitar is routed for a humbucker but if the bucker has long legs you will have to route a little for the legs to fit. My bridge is a Duncan Donahue which works great with the Antiquity humbucker. It is my #1 guitar and works extremely well from Jazz to Soul to Funk to Rock to Country Twang. Install and enjoy!

Both of these sound very nice. ![]() ![]() The second one had a HB in it that just didn't work in that guitar, the Strat pickup stays!

Go Lollar Regal or Telenator WRHB if you want a HB... everything else (humbucker) sounds like MUD compared to the WRHB... Yes other HB's will "fatten" up your sound, but they don't have the deffinition or the chime that the WRHB has. IMO it's head and ahoulders above all these SD and Gibson "things" people call Humbuckers. I have yet to play a 50's Hot-Rod Tele with the "little" HB in it, but I've played a god-awful ammout of HB guitars and specific HB's and NONE of them copare to the WRHB.
The big question would be if the bodu is routed for a WRHB or just a regular sized HB as they're slightly bigger. YMMV... Cheers Dave
