Question about Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster
Besides the obvious Strat PU in the middle position, what do you guys think about the Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster?
If we don't talk about the additional PU (which I don't care for), how does the Deluxe Series Nashville Tele compare to the MIM Standard (neck shape, fretwork, build quality, tuners)? Also, does anybody know what's under the pickguard - swimming pool routing like on the 90's Stratocasters or individual routes for each pickup? |

Thanks for the precise answer.

Thanks again. I'm actually watching a nice DLX Nashville on ebay Germany. If the neck profile is thicker than what Fender calls "modern C" (I just emailed the seller with this question), I will try to get my hands on this one. |

My name tells you what I think of them! Back in 2000 I had bought a American Standard Tele but found it had various build and sound issues that I didn't care for, despite how lovely it was.
Then I heard a kid at Guitar Center playing something that sounded amazing -- turned around and saw a Deluxe Nashville. Checked the headstock and was amazed to find out it was made in Mexico! No matter what that little sticker said I had to have one. So I sold the American series right away and got the Nashville. Been loving it ever since, and everyone from other musicians to laymen say it's my prettiest and best-sounding guitar, even over Les Paul Standards. The pickups aren't quite as loud or defined as the Duncan Vintage `54's in my other Tele, but they're not disappointing, either. They sound better on the A and E, actually. Much better put together than the American one I had, and I really like a six-barrell bridge. As far as wood matching, if you're going for a sunburst I agree you should see it in person first. Mine is perfectly matched, but I've seen several that were ugly as h*ll. The fretwork is not equal on all of them, either. I say go for it. I favor the transparent honey-blonde these days. Good candidate for a blackguard. |

Nash
my #2's a Nash, sunburst, maple fb.....and no insult, my #1's a '52RI....
except for swapping the neck and mid Pup wires at the switch, my Nash is bone stock.....i love it ! neck's a full "C" profile, and the steel six saddle bridge(Ping) has all the twang one could hope for....i have not experienced the saddles moving as some have complained of......tuning is stable (slotted Kluson type tuners) The neck and bridge Pups seem to have a bit more oomph than the '52RI, while still having the bell like clarity of the genre, though the Strat middle seems to be run o' the mill, i rarely use it (hence rewiring the switch) Pots are Cts.... all in all a very good guitar, regardless of price |

Absolutely, and that's what I'm doing with mine that I just picked up for less than $300 about a month ago on Ebay. The neck feels incredible to me. I can't wait to get a Lollar P-90 in at the neck, and I just received my Harmonic Design S-90 for the bridge a day or 2 ago. Also recently received a vintage 3-saddle bridge and brass saddles. Now I've gotta order a switch from Stewmac, and then I'll be pretty much ready to start construction! |

Thanks to all for the repies.
Maestrovert, if you call the profile a "full C", I guess I'm fine with the neck. As far as I know, you also prefer chunkier necks. DlxNashvilleLuvr, I currently have my eyes on a cream white Dlx Nashville on ebay (older model, not the current honey blonde), so there will be no issues with grain matching. |

re: chunky necks
Heya Tonfarbe !
yes, i definitely prefer very chunky U and V shapes (just try finding a "hard V " neck 1" thick though !) my Nash has a FULL "C" profile, it does feel a bit chunkier than a Mim Std..... if i may ? To each his own, and while you may have a preference for the 3 saddles, please give the stock 6 steel saddle bridge a FAIR chance....it's TWANGY and bright (pluses in the Tele world !) and correct intonation's a breeze ! i'm actually looking for a Candy Apple Maple fb Nash... ;-) |

On my first hombrew I initialy had a 6 saddles bridge like the one on the DLX Nashville (the vintage type). With this bridge I had the problem that the saddles were tilted sidewards when they were set too high (because of the string-pressure). But I will give it a try - presupposed I score this Nashville on ebay. |

re: 6 steel saddles
"With this bridge I had the problem that the saddles were tilted sidewards when they were set too high..."
i've never had this problem..... You'll only need to be sure the screws are adjusted equally, keeping the saddles level ..... Post pics when you're up and running after your p-90 mod etc ? |

I had to adjust the saddles all the way up to get a decent string height. Just found a picture on my computer... ![]() I tried adjusting the two srews to the same level - no chance. As you can see, the left height screw in the circle was even adjusted lower than the right one (normally resulting in the saddle tilting to the left), but with the immense force from the strings and the pressure-point on the saddles being outside of the center, they just started to lift sideways. I solved this problem by cutting the neck pocket a bit deeper - no need to set the saddles all the way up results in a smaller break angle of the strings on the saddles and therefor less pressure on one side of the saddle. 1,9 cm measured on the first fret (wich equals 0.748031"). Way too thin for my taste, so I have to pass on this one. :( |
