Bill Frisell - Tele - Downbeat

The new issue of Downbeat features Bill Frisell with a surf green Thinline RI - looks great on the cover and in the copy. Also, he tells about a few other teles he's playing "a lot" these days.

Heads up!

Loudon Wainwright

FYI - Bill is on Louden Wainwright III's new album "Here Come The Choppers". Jim Keltner on drums too.

Very good indeed, give it a go.

Just saw Bill's Quintet a week ago and he played the very Thinline you mentioned. His playing was typically brilliant (as was were the other 4 members) but I have to be honest- it was slightly annoying to see him twisting/tweaking/turning the knobs on his effects. I know he was looping/sampling and it was used well and sounded great, but it was especially nice when he stopped that and just played the guitar because he's so gosh darn wonderful at it. Is it just me? Don't get me wrong- I'll still buy, listen to, and love everything he does, and I highly recommend everybody go see him, if you get the chance.

I just found out Bill is on the new CD by Loudon Wainwright III ("Here Come the Choppers"), along with Greg Leisz. Ten seconds later, I was downloading that sucker from iTunes. Can't wait to get out of work tonight & go listen to it! 8)

I don't know if the Downbeat article mentioned this, but apparently Bill Frisell is currently working on Paul Simon's new album as well...

And, if that wasn't intriguing enough, the session is being produced by Brian Eno.

There's three people I never thought would work toghether. Should be really cool! :)
