Black pickguard for 50s classic ?

Decided to put a black pickguard on my white blonde 50s Classic MIM. I bought the Fender 52 Black 5 hole. It doesn't fit. The guard has too narrow of a slot to fit around neck heel and the radius for control plate is too small. Where do I get one that is gauranteed to fit, screw holes and all?

Have you tried loosening up the control plate and moving it out of the way before installing the pickguard? That's what I had to do in order to get mine to line up. It wouldn't fit either until I did that. It should fit perfect after doing that. I have the exact same guitar and 52 black 5 hole guard. Here's mine with the black guard on:

It's the one on the left in case you can't tell

If you have a real 52 Fender guard its a direct bolton without doing anything other than removing the stock white pickguard.

My guess is you didnt buy a real 52 Fender pickguard and got one from an aftermarket supplier which can require some trimming to fit correctly.

Had the same problem

Mine was gen-yoo-ine '52 reissue. Just take an emery board or fine sandpaper and file the trouble spots little by little until it fits. Be patient- you won't need to take too much off. Don't force it or you might end up with a nice dent in the neck.

I've had to trim several of the 52RI guards to get them to fit -- especially around the control plate.

I ordered a 5-hole Esquire guard from Warmoth. Put it on one of my 50's Classics with no fit problems.

I was thinking

It would be super cool to get a 50's classic esquire and refinish it butterscotch blonde. I've decided that tele's that aren't butterscotch blonde don't look right.

Yes it is a gen-you-wine Fender 52 5 hole and I see that I do need to do a little sanding on it to get it to fit. In both places. Thanks for lettin me know I don't have the wrong guard.
