American Deluxe Telecaster
Has anyone here played and/or bought an American Deluxe Telecaster? The ones with the SCN noiseless pickups and the contoured back?
Any opinions? A friend of mine is interested, but I have no clue about them. Thanks, TBD |

i just got mine today......and......WOW.
the SNC's seem ok to me.....the workmanship is impeccable, and the neck......the neck is perfect! I guess mine is a NOS, cause it's a `04..... did this year have that special switching??? if it does, i don't get it. fwiw, it's the heritage cherry finish w/ the maple neck/board.

Played one in a local shop a few times...
I love the feel of the neck, the tone, the belly cut, the binding... great job, Fender!
John :D

I think mine is the "old style". All noiseless pickups, a strat pup in the middle, five way switching with an extra toggle between the vol and "delta" tone control. Nice cherry-reddish translucent finish, white top binding with the belly cutout in back, darker than rosewood fingerboard (possibly ebony?) with mother of pearl style dots. Got it in 1999. I picked it up and couldn't let it go.
I did switch the middle and neck pickup wires on the selector switch.

Yup - check this one out!
This one's mine and she's lurvely!
The PUPs are less exaggerated than some vintage tele's but still cover all the bases from lean and mellow to mean and screaming! The overall finish is superior especially the neck and you can make like a Gibson with the S1 switch! http://photobucket.com/albums/v349/s...t=IMG_0611.jpg |

The Fender American Deluxe Telecaster was introduced januar 2004. If someone says he has a 1999 model it is something else.
http://fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0101602764 It has the 3-way toggle plus the S1 switch. This Telecaster has stolen the best from the Strat World: The contoured body. The S1 switch makes it possible to switch from neck and bridge pu in parallel to neck and bridge pu in series á la humbucker. This guitar has got the best from three different worlds. Guess: Unfortunately Fender has only sold 12 of this wonderful instruments, and the 2004 production is still in stock. Thats why your brandnew Deluxe was dated 2004. |

Explain this link: http://fender.com/support/diagrams/p...105500CPg1.pdf You can find the rest of the pages on: http://fender.com/support/diagrams/ Look for American Deluxe Telecaster® (Old) or the part number of 010-5500/02. That's my 1999 American Deluxe Tele... thank you.

correct JAA!....i had a 98 in teal green transparent, w/ the 3 NL pups....it was sweet....great maple neck, too.....
i traded it (man, i traded some nice guitars!) for a USA G&L commanche w/ a birdseye neck and 3 Z pups....and i traded that for my green double-bound 63 US RI Tele. I still have that.....and it's a KILLER axe.
