'72 Telecaster Custom - Opinions?

Hello there! I'm currently looking for a new guitar in the £600-800 (about $900-1100) price range and this tele looks excellent. I've only read good things about it so far, but does anyone here have anything to add? Do humbuckers sound good on a tele? Thanks in advance!

I've been playing a '74 Tele Custom since the summer of '76 and it's the one guitar I'll never part with. It is capable of such a wide variety of tones, which includes classic Tele. I can get my Les Paul to sound like it, as mentioned above, but nothing compares to the Tele. The neck Humbucker gets you some darker tones but on the Tele it still seems to ring cleaner than the LP. I don't have any experience with the reissues, but if they are truly building them to spec, IMHO, you can't go wrong. An amazing neck profile also, at least for my hand. YMMV.
Good luck.

I'd pick up an old one over the RI

I really like the sounds you can get out of these Teles.

I played one RI (MIJ) side by side with buddy's '78 (he has 2!) and it didn't sound as good. It sounded "thin" if that makes sense. Maybe you should look around your local shops and see if you can find one from the '70's for around the same amount of money.

About a year ago I picked up a black '78 (with rosewood neck) on a reserve not met ebay auction. I got it in a private sale for $850......Fish
