Pete Anderson Esquire tribute... on the cheap

I've been obsessed with Teles lately, and a Pete Anderson style esquire was at the top of my want list. Funds were tight though, so this was the best I could do for now. An SX Furrian double bound body paired with a Mighty Mite neck, and a AVRI 62 bridge pickup to finish it all off. The body was originally two-tone sunburst. Looks much better in black. Still waiting on tuners to finish it off. Between this, my American Special tele, and another SX, I'm set for Teles.

For now.

Very nice job- love the bound black with the rosewood fretboard
Was the mm neck easy to fit to the Sx body?

Very easy. I'd always heard the SX heel route was much larger, both in width and depth, than a normal Fender heel. I don't know if that's changed in recent years, but this was a really close fit. Right depth, just a tiny, TINY, bit bigger in width. I was able to shim on each side with pieces I cut from automotive feeler gauges.

Stock 6 saddle bridge. I've got stainless saddles to be installed on it yet.

That's not a stock bridge--it has a toploader option and 12 holes.

I'm talking about the bridge itself, not the saddles.

Btw, what is going on with the string holes going into the body? They're all over the place and not lined up at all.

I don't think those are string-through holes. They look like marks where the saddles 'stood'. I assume it's second hand?

It does look like there are topload holes as well. The body is different than mine (about a year old). The binding looks whiter and the notch seems to have a taller shoulder on it

I kid you not, that's a stock SX furrian bridge plate. They stagger the through holes instead of going in a straight line.

Oh, and you're correct it also has toploader holes on the bridge plate. It can be used in either configuration.

So why are there 12 holes in the top loader option?

The top six holes are for the saddles, regardless of whether you use it in a toploader or string through configuration. I just haven't installed the saddles yet. The bottom six are for use as a toploader.

Missed this comment before. The binding is actually cream colored in person, not bold white like a 62 RI. My pictures are just a bit bright and make the binding look whiter than it is.

Great work! It look really cool in black with the white binding.
