NGincomingD - Tele-bration Hot Rod 52

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...t_10422wt_1029

Here's the link. Has a chip, no swag, and lame case. I think I did ok though. Kinda a spur of the moment thing...I've been looking for a '52 and only had 8 hours to make up my mind on this one.

What do you guys think. A bit heavier and a bit darker I have heard...

You will really love it. I bought same guitar and really enjoy it. That's BS about the case. Mine came with a Tweed case & so did a friend of mines who has the same model. You will like the compensated saddles too!
Good score though. Enjoy!

I can dig that. This is a trial run. I am on the fence between single in neck or humbuggy. So since I heart Keith Richards and Rich Robinson, I went with the humbucker. I figured better get one stock this way vs. bastardizing a regular '52 in regards to routing...

I usually prefer the dual-single coils for Teles, but that being said, one of my favorite positions on my dual-humbucker guitar (which, coincidentally, also has a Duncan 59 in the neck, I've thought about trying something different but I love the tone I get with it) is in the middle with the bridge pickup coil-tapped.

Looks like a really cool guitar either way. Love that color.

You almost ended up bidding against me.. i saw that a couple of days ago and really had to talk myself out of going for it. Nice deal.. Congrats hope you enjoy it.

Bought a CS 50's Custom Telecaster (see my avatar) earlier this year that came in the same case.. also included the useless thermometer case for show.. Will take that case over the tweed everyday.

Ohhh man, A neck humbucker in a tele with a real tele bridge is a match in heaven.
Probably won't balance well in the middle position but who cares...

I have been trying to find one for a year now.

Cheers

I actually think that it is set up like an esquire....neck dark, neck with tone, bridge with tone. So no mis-balance.

MASONish, correct me if I'm wrong.

Two Steps when I ordered my Telebration Hot Rod the specs said what you just quoted but it isn't. Position 1-Bridge, Position 2- Bridge & neck, Position 3-Neck. I was surprised when I unpacked it & plugged it in to find this out. This was a brand spanking new Tele to. It hadn't been modified at all. My friend bought the same guitar & his is the same way. Just like a standard tele wiring with the addition of a '59 Duncan in the neck. The bucker in the neck & the 1 piece maple neck works! It has an awesome, beautiful tone unlike no other! I changed the bridge p-up to a Fralin stock +2% & it's all good!! One of my favorite Teles!!

I looked up the specs yesterday.. 3 sites had 3 different sets of specs but I suspect it has the modern wiring bridge, bridge+neck, neck just like the Hot Rod with the Mini Humbucker and the Modern Player with the same SD59 in the bridge. Fender doesn't have it up on it's site any longer so I was checking retailer sites. Can't imagine anyone would want the humbucker wired up with dark vintage wiring.
