NGD - "60th Ann" (my first post at TDPRI) - (I add pic's)

HI

Im playing guitar for nearly 25 years and after a rest of 7 years now I went back on the saddle a couple of month ago...during this time I bough several guitars… luckily I've got the funds for it now (but its all be gone soon – my wife put a stop on my craziness )

after a couples (4-5 ) I thought that EVERY ONE NEED A TELE right? So…
I was going out yesterday to buy one (after some reserching and playing time at some friends).... and after an hour.. I just can't do it.
I just cant purchased the damn thing. And I've tried- Repeatedly.
Its sure play well and feel all right, but I was not able to pay that much for it (750$ on a sale around here) I'm talking about a "Road Worn player telecaster..."
I have a severe OCD and I was found my self scratching down dirt or what ever with my pick and start thinking how I can get home and replace all that shabby hard were to a new one.
Im guessing the "relics" oncs are not for me…
(cuz of my "budget prob" I was after some low cost "under a 1T" axe, and the RW or some MIM standard were the "only" options that we have got around here).

so...I'll tried some different tele's that were hang over there with the certainty in heart and mind, that I will probably pay much more...(and get some beatings! when i came back home ) but I will be whole with it, hopefully.
After an hour and a half trying different guitars over there, from MIM to CS (OMG)...I ended up pulling a big and heavy SKB case to my car...
it was a "60 anniversary Tele", with a beautiful one piece ash body and all the SHABANG!. In natural colors (not blond).
I realized that if one want to do it right, I need to bring home a real TELECASTER!, with all of her glory. (Maybe some day I will buy this RW Blues boy with the neck HB… second hand ;-))…but for now, I will rock a genuine telecaster that looks great and sound awesome!

I was reading here lately and it’s a fine forum with some seriously fine PPL
Its an honor to be among you guys.

Excuse my English though it is not my native lang.

Aviad.
Israel.

p.s – I promise to take some pictures soon and get them posted in here.

Hi Aviad! Welcome to the forum! Indeed, it's a great place!

Congrats on the new guitar... I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Sorry to hear about your OCD. I assume you weren't joking about it. It's a nasty condition, but you can learn to live with it. I hope you're doing ok. However, is it wrong that I found your description of the episode with the Road Worn very funny? I hope you don't mind, but I do confess that I laughed! Sincere apologies if you do not appreciate this.

Congrats and welcome, also nice to hear about your experience and the buy. Of course this is will now be the first post of many where you start by telling us which Tele you're looking at buying next. They're an "addiction" in and of themselves as you may soon find out.

Aviad the thing about Teles is that in addition to being a basic and relatively inexpensive guitar in and of themselves they are also relatively easy to modify for different looks and tonality. That's what makes them an addiction. There's always just one more way that you can "do one up".

I have four and recently my daughter asked why I had so many of the same guitar I said, "oh dear sweet child of mine the only things that's the same about them is the body shape", LOL. Different finishes, pickups, bridges, tuners, electronics, neck profiles etc. Variations on a theme I have come to love.

The only thing that's really the same is that they're all Teles.

Indeed... OCD is a matter of degree. I'm glad you're not in any of the extremes. :-)

Welcome to the forum! Your OP made me remember when I was looking for my Tele. I went to all kinds of shops and played all kinds of Teles trying to find the right one for the right price. I decided to get one that played right for me and not care about the price or fallout with the wife. I ended up traveling to NYC in my search. I live in Ohio and knew that there were lots of stores in NYC to check out. With my wife in tote we went to numerous shops trying to find the right Tele. I even had someone lined up on Craigslist in case my shopping turned up nothing. We ended up finding a used '97 American Standard that was in great shape. The price was a bit high for her so I took her across the street to the bar and we "talked" about it over numerous drinks. By the time "talking" was done (she felt pretty tipsy) We walked back to the shop and bought it. It was great riding the subway back with my new, old, axe!

Anyway, your wife will forgive you about your new purchase and come to understand your guitar "needs"

Your story is a way of life and I was related to it enormously.
Your wife and mine need to have a talk ;-) il bet they have alot in common.
I guess she is ok (my wife ya?!), if by now I'm still asleep in our bed, I cant complain.
I bought some serious axes in just a couple of month, so...
its all cool.

thanks again sir.

That could be risky for afungus amungus depending on which wife is more convincing!
