Delta may have lost my New AM. Std.

Arrived in Korea yesterday from the U.S. All my bags made except one...the Fender cardboard box containing my SKB case with my new 2011 AM Standard Tele inside. Ugh! Filed a claim and Delta assured me they are searching and think it will come on the next day's flight. Wonder if its been stolen by the TSA or other airport employees.

That's a bummer, I'm sure you would have rather had the bag containing the boxer shorts and sweat socks go missing. They may have put it on a different flight due to weight, hopefully it shows up soon.

I hope you get it back. I'm taking a trip to Chicago in a few weeks and I'm gonna take a Strat in my Fender deluxe gig bag.

Damn that sucks. But think positive I'm sure it will arrive, like a lady. Fashionably late...

It will show up. Sometimes things don't make it through customs quickly, and end up on the next flight.

I had a lost bag flying from Nassau Bahamas to Ft Lauderdale that ended up getting delivered to me in Tampico Mexico a few days later. Luckily, I was flying an airline that served the US, Mexico, and The Bahamas.

Incheon? I dreaded losing a bag there and trying to locate it! Luckily, my flight in was uneventful...minus the pushy cabbies. Best of luck to you, Cobalt!

Some take their neck off their guitars and carry the body and neck in a padded carry-on.. Maybe in the future you might think of doing that.. I believe your guitar will show up, though... Best of luck..

Get an unloaded air-soft gun and put it in the guitar case next time you fly. When you arrive at the airport declare that you're carrying an unloaded firearm in the case. They'll never lose a bag with a gun in it, you can be sure of that. they'll also treat the bag better. (I wouldn't try this internationally, but it certainly works if you stay within the USA)

Thanks everybody. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. Should hear back this afternoon from Delta.

I've honestly never heard of that, but I can ONLY IMAGINE trying to explain to TSA why you have a bag with electronic bits and wires and switches all over the place!!! I'm sure some genius at TSA would give you hell!

Lol, otherwise I'd say it was a good Idea. I've only flown with a guitar once and it was my brand new acoustic in a hard shell case. They let me carry it on and put it in a cabinet in the flight attendant's area. They were very nice to me about it!

United breaks guitars.

Take the bus.

Oh yeah! You are right. I forgot about the TSA.. I haven't flown in a plane since1971.. Yikes, has it been that long... Bill Kirchen used to detatch the neck on his guitar and carry it on in a bag, but that was before 9-11. What was I thinking? Good luck though.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard, borderline reckless.

Why do you hate your Strat? You'd be better off trusting those guys with a sock full of eggs. The best thing to do is disassemble it and pack it in a suitcase full of clothes. An actual TSA type guitar case is also good, but it advertises what's inside. I know thousnads of guitars travel every doo dah, doo dah, but better safe than sorry.

No, I mean carry it on and put it in the closet in the front of the plane. I did this with my '46 Harmony Stella last year and it worked fine.

I've traveled a bunch over the last few years and have never had a problem bringing my tele in skb case on board.

Not too long ago, Delta left my Tele in its gig bag out in a thunderstorm. No, I did not check it in a gig bag - it was a small plane and I had to gate-check it.

I hope you get your guitar back cobalt, and that it's in good shape. You can't help but wonder if a guy from TSA ain't sittin' there playing some tunes at his house and having a cold one. Sayin' man what a cool guitar I found today that nobody was usin'. I hope that's not the case.
