NGD MIM tele copper burst with a question about wiring

Hi! About a month ago, a friend of mine paid me some work I did on his Ibanez Explorer with a MIM 60th anniversary cooper burst he bought but couldn't get along with.

I think is a great guitar, loved it from the get go, but... When I started playing with it, I noticed something odd about the switching, I thought the switch was upside down, so when the tip of it was closer to the volume pot, the neck pickup was on. Naturally, I opened it up and took a look inside the control cavity and I just couldn't make any sense of it.

A can be seen, thw yellow wire comes from the bridge pickup and the white one is the neck pickup.

I'm somewhat capable around guitar wiring, I have another tele, my first real guitar and I have wired it several different ways, had a DiMarzio FRED for some time, it even had a Black Ice OD circuit in it for a while, now it's as close to stock as possible, but I digress...

I've looked around the forum and can't find something about this wiring.

I hope you guys can help.

Cheers!

Well if you have :

Neck all the way back, then neck and bridge, then bridge, it's just wired modern 3 way Tele, and the switch is flipped 180º.

I have a copperburst MIM exactly like the one you have and it's my #1. Great guitar. Sounds like you just need to reverse the switch and your good to go. Just a little friendly suggestion do the Fezz Parka mod and then drop a Duncan STL-1 in the bridge position and you'll be amazed how it comes alive.

Oh and check out a black pickguard too...looks great on the copper.

That guitar original came with the switch place reversed.....in other words the pickup selector switch was towards the bridge instead of towards the neck. This is an FSR Guitar Center/Musicians Friend if I am not mistaken. Of course, I could be wrong. :-)

If I'm correct then I think that maybe the original owner may have reversed the control plate but not the switch which is why it is reversed.

I agree that the switch is reversed, but I don't think it's a Guitar Center FSR. I bought mine from my local Fender dealer and it was brand new.

So, it's just a standard wiring, but it came with the plate upside down, my friend reversed it so it would look stock and didn't tell me..

Is it just me or this modern wiring is too complicated and over thought???
Is there some kind of advantage to it?

Thank you all for the help!!

Thanks for the suggestion, your guitar look mean! I'm gonna play a little longer with mine before thinking about mods, but I'm sure there will be some... oh, there will be some...

NO.... the one with the vintage bridge is an FSR... he switched the control plate back.... the one with the white pickup is a regular mim standard they released in 2010 with a modern bridge and white pickgaurd...the FSRs have a black pg... nice gits either way. Heres mine.
