New Tele question
Hello all. I have a question about new telecasters. A local shop has a 2012 ash body AS Tele for sale but there is no paperwork with it. He said that a customer won it in a raffle and it has all of the protective covers and decals. My question is, when you buy new, does the guitar come with a certificate of authenticity? I'm not a noob to guitar playing (40 years), just haven't ever bought a new fender before. Thanks.

Sounds like a used guitar to me & should be priced accordingly. Dealer bought it from a private party and is reselling w/o paperwork? Production Fenders don't come with a COA but they do have a manual and care instructions along with additional case candy. Fender may not honor the warranty either.

Right on! Even with the exchange rates, the difference between the US dollar value and the Canadian dollar value is negligible. I would pass, but not before taking my Musician's Friend catalog to him and showing him. He might come down. But, then again, it's a used guitar. You could get a new AS Tele cheaper and it will be unquestionable and will have full warranty and all goodies.

Thanks all. Ended up getting a brand new one for the same price. Cdn dollar is strong but on imports from the states we get screwed. Cheapest I found this guitar elsewhere was Long and McQuade for $1249 plus 13 % tax. I have attached a pic. Thanks for your help everyone. Looking forward to many years of playing. Now, which amp should I buy.......

Really, Cwash, any amp you can find on a deal that has a tube in it might make you happy, teles just seem to get along with them. I'd be on the lookout for a used Blues Jr or Deluxe, might be able to find one without having to shell out that much.
