Sonic or Daphne Baja?
I'm tired of the Desert Sand color of my Baja. I've decided to paint it. I have both Sonic and Daphne Reranch in the garage. Which should I go with? I'm pairing it with a mint green pick guard. If not one of these I was thinking of a trip down to Pepboys and getting a Duplicolor can of something. Thoughts?

I'd say go with one or the other, because each is better than the next… except, of course, when it's not….
to be honest, when either has the correct clear coat, it's darn near impossible to tell the difference… specially if you're color blind… rk

Daphne, but get a fresh alder USACG body and coat that.
The Baja poly coat is not as heavy as MIMs once were, but between this existing coating and more sprayed over it, IMO the skin will be way too thick. |

I have a Sonic Blue Strat with the mint guard and it is gorgeous. I wanted a Daphne Blue Strat but it was a partscaster and I got a good deal on the Sonic body and I very happy with it.
However... It is a bit like when you were a teenager and there were these two girls. You pick one and wonder forever what the the other one was like. So pick one and love the one you're with, keeping in mind that unlike girls, you can always refin a guitar.

I prefer sonic blue myself. I painted my 2012 build challenge guitar translucent sonic blue with a parchment pickguard. Be careful with what clear you use over the blue because if it has any amber to it it will change the color of the blue to a greenish blue which can initate aging of the clear.

I never could tell the different. They are cool colors.. but a mint guard? I would say white or pearloid would be sharp.
