It's already too hideous to imagine. Tortoise guard against Burgundy Mist? (BARF!) Painted Strat headstock? (Dry heaves.) JM pickups? (About as clunky looking as it gets in terms of pickups.) Double bound and Strat contours? (That'll be fun for whoever builds it, and expensive for whoever has it built.) B and G benders? (Obviously that means no Floyd and no Bigsby.) What a butchered monster!

But what the hell? I'll add a spec: bound, "ebonized" fretboard with no position markers. I would just say an ebony board, but rosewood has already been selected.

I'm not really a fan of red, but I do love a true darker candy apple red that has been sprayed over a gold metal flake base and topped with a liquid looking clear coat.

1) 50's spec Tele body (ash?), Burgundy Mist finish, Double Bound White Binding etc.
2) wood Tele neck with medium V profile, rosewood fretboard, ____ frets, etc.
3) Seymour Duncan Antiquity Jazzmaster pickups
4)B & G benders
5) Matching Strat style headstock
6)Belly Cut ,Forarm Contour
7)4 way wiring with dual push pulls for phase switching and volume/tone bypass

i was on my ipod so i couldnt figure out how to copy and paste for this, so now its official.

I like the Bigsby, binding, B & G benders and wiring plan.

Not sure about the V profile (prefer thin profile personally). Def. not a strat headstock or belly cut/forarm contour! Not sure about the pickups (prefer Lollars/Fralins/Adder Plus neck pickup + Voodoo bridge combination that Bill Crook uses).

I got to say it sounded like a fun idea but so far we have an elephant being a horse designed by a committee.

even as the creator of this madness, I'd have to agree.

I like the poll ideas, but I'm not sure how to make that work. Seems like we need multiple polls on one thread... is that even possible?

I'm not completely losing faith yet though... maybe the democratic process can still work here if we give it more time. Perhaps we just had to get this out of our system and.... I dunno

Maybe we have to start with a couple concepts and then tweak from there, i.e.: the ultimate 50's Tele, 60's Tele, etc. True you can always go Custom Shop, but I don't think I'll ever "be ready". A home-built nitro replica with some Rutters, Kirn, Fralin, etc. parts is way more accessible, and fun!

Anyway, back at it! I'm willing to drop the V profile if we can at least have a medium neck... can't stand thin necks! but I'm also against the Strat headstock and contours. Funny, when I started this I thought for sure people would err on the traditional... I like that it's not too serious, but um.... yeah....

It would be cool to build this puppy, but definitely not as it sits now! I have faith though!

that's right, I started with that, so everything subsequent is null and void! no contours, no binding! of course my interpretation of concrete is probably different than the one you meant.

when I was a kid we used to go to this beach where there was a sunken ship just off the coast. My grandpa always told me it was from back around WWII when they tried making a ship with a concrete hull... not sure if it's true, but I'm sure some "committee" thought it was a good idea at the time.

Thanks Teletotherain ,

I was just reading about a concrete Strat body on another forum, and although is weighs in at a groovy 23 pounds, I just can't help but dig the possibility of a concrete Tele coming to life.

Believe it or not large pieces of concrete will float just fine. Look at the cap they tried to put on the oil well.
