Pulled the trigger - now the wait
I have a new Fender Standard on its way to the local GC. Black with maple. The sales guy said he would make sure I get a standard gig bag as well. $400 out the door.
I may have been able to do a little better through MF but in this case at least a local guy picked up a small sale. Now the long wait begins ... on a holiday week. |

A local guy at the store got the tiny credit and tiny commission. As for mom and pop type places, I only have one the same distance and they either did not have what I wanted or at a price I wanted. Both are an hour away. I usually go to the small store for strings, etc. I was on a fairly tight budget on this purchase.

Tick...tick...tick...tick...tick...
Jeez, it seems like an hour and only five minutes have gone by! How many times have you looked at the date on your watch today? Stop that pacing! And don't be pulling up pictures of black and maple Telecasters on the Internet and staring at them! Don't worry, OzShadow, it'll be here. Eventually. Unless it gets delayed somehow. But that probably won't happen. The warehouse guys will be all rested up and going strong after a holiday. Unless... No, I shouldn't say that. Oh, all right, I guess I already started, I may as well finish what I was going to say. What if the warehouse guys get together over the holiday and have a big, rowdy party? Cripes, they could be all hungover and out of whack when they come back to work after the holiday! Nothing would get done. They'd just take turns sleeping on some boxes in the back while the others watched for the boss. Hardly anything would get shipped until they were well again! But I feel confident that won't happen. Who ever heard of warehousemen who liked to party hearty? Everything will probably be fine. Relax! Rick |

I'm actually pretty patient about it. My '93 Am. Std. I had to sell in school was black and maple. I've waited 11 years for another. I can wait a little longer. Besides, my Martin keeps me company. It just doesn't do everything I want it to.

Congrats on the Tele, the waiting just adds to the excitement of something new. I think it makes more of an impression on your purchase, and gives you a good story to tell.

It has medium jumbo frets. I doubt I'll have any problems with them. I am more interested in having more time with the gloss front, satin back neck. The best thing about the medium jumbos is that I would think they would be good for a level and crown after years of playing instead of a full fret replacement. At least it seems that way. |
