Yep. I saw that one, John. Unfortunately, this Tele sells for $599 and would only be $50 off. I think I'd pull the trigger if I could score one on-line for $500!

Oh shoot ! I was thinking of another user here I had pm and emails with and thought that was you. I forgot his user name now. I recognized your user name as someone I knew, it's been a while. I'm on here a lot so many names run though my little hard drive up in my noggin'.
That FSR caught my eye to. What a beauty ! A guy could always change the pups though if he didn't dig 'em. |

Here's the NGD I posted when I got mine - http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaste...w-fsr-day.html
The pickups are not the Custom Shop Texas Specials, but I really like 'em. |

Musician's Friend has these FSR's back in stock and they are selling them for $479.99 right now! What's the deal on these pickups? Are they Texas Special pickups or something else? Are they Alnico or ceramic p'ups?

Alnico. The bridge is wound pretty high, FWIW. They are just some new pickups they made up and plugged into the specials ( Strats too) and for some reason, decided to label them Texas Specials.
Like I said, they are NOT from custom shop, so if that pup floats any ones boat, you will be disappointed because that is not what you are getting. To add, I am not implying there is anything wrong with them, just that fact. Folks look at specs and say hey cool, TS pups !! Well I just say it's misleading. .02 P.S. Regardless, that git is a heck of a buy though !!!! |

I wonder if you'll get the extra $50 off of that with the July 4th offer ? Too bad that don't have a decent FSR strat with some upgrades at the price, I would have it ordered already this morning. |

CALL THEM !...ask about the additional percentage. I've done that several times and they've granted it each time. |

I love mine
I have owned one for a few weeks now and I must say that it is quite nice. I have an American std strat and it feels and sounds just as good. I had every intention of modding it (bridge, tuners, nut, etc), but I can't see why at this point. It's my first tele, so I'm still a noob, but it is quite nice indeed. Well worth the price of admission.

Fender apparently has two different sets of Texas special pickups. If they are listed as custom shop Texas specials, that is what they are. If they are listed as hot Texas specials, they are not the same as the custom shop pups. The non-cs Texas specials came stock with my new American Texas special tele and I have seen them in some of the far offerings. That isn't to say that they sound bad though. In fact, the neck pickups sound pretty much the same to me and both have a dc resistance of about 9.5k. The bridge pickups are not so similar. The cs bridge pup has staggered pole pieces and a dc resistance of around 9.7, as I recall. The non-cs bridge pup has flat pole pieces and mine has a dc resistance in the 15k range.

I ordered one from Music123/Musicians Friend a few days ago. Arrives in 1 day! I've been watching it go from Kansas City to Louisville to Honolulu to Sydney (Australia) ... now making its way up the east coast of Oz to Brisbane. Yeehaaa!
