what's up with people? (Tele related)
I recently inquired about a Warmoth Cabronita body on eBay since the weight wasn't listed. The guy gave it to me to which I replied for him to let me know if it doesn't sell at his set price and he re-lists at a lower price.
He then rather rudely asked why I would waste his time asking the question if I wasn't interested. (not sure what he was hoping to gain there) I then explained that maybe it didn't occur to him that the weight put me off. I also said that I would no longer be interested at any price but thank you. (his immediate rude tone threw me off so I just don't want to deal with this guy at all at this point) He then said: "Oh ok, so if the price is lower, the weight doesn't really matter? Yeah I get it now. That's genius!" to which I responded: "That's how Warmoth does it. Thanks for the compliment sir, I count myself in good company". I don't want to be rude back, but sometimes a little sarcasm is ok right? Where do these Internet tough guys get off? I can only assume this guy is young or just hasn't grown up. Ok, rant over, I just can't stand people like this. Last edited by TeleToTheRain; June 8th, 2012 at 07:24 AM. |

What's really sad is, the guy probably doesn't even care that he's an *******!
Some people are just that way. Karma will catch up with him. Enjoy that :)

Look at his side.
You asked the weight and he told you. You then told him to let you know if he failed to sell to contact you. He doesn't want to "fail" on selling it, he wants to get his price or very close to it. When he got your inquiry, he replied thinking that you were interested in bidding. In a round-about way, you said to him "I'm not paying that much, I hope you don't sell it so I can get it for less." I am sure he was a bit frustrated.

Do you sell anything on eBay? People send questions like yours all the time and it gets a bit frustrating. It's an auction. If your not interested then move on and leave it to the folks that are. Your cheap buying tactics are a waste of that poor guys time and your threats mean nothing to him. Someone will buy it through the normal auction process.

Are you guys serious? He didn't list the weight.... I thought I "might" be interested so I asked the question.... thats why there's an ask the seller a question feature. I could have liked his answer and easily purchased it. Would it be better if I just looked at it, didn't see a weight and moved on without asking? I didn't want to insult him or break eBay protocol by offering a lower price, so I just put it out there that I might be interested if it doesn't sell and he lowers it. Been around the eBay block a million times guys and I never find it frustrating when someone asks a relevant question, decides to pass, etc. I've also reduced prices and sold to people that weren't originally interested at my initial price without throwing a fit, getting frustrated, or being rude. However, i find being misinterpreted extremely frustrating and exhausting. I appreciate the devils advocate, but come on.... the guy wasted more of his precious time and burned more calories with his unnecessary sarcastic replies. In fact, I've burned too many talking about this, back to playing. Thanks to those who understand where I'm coming from and let me rant, I don't do it often, it just seems like lately everyone is an immediate jerk, especially behind a keyboard and it's getting old. I usually try to be extra nice when typing because sometimes "tone" in misinterpreted, but I'm starting to realize that no matter what, there's always someone that will take it the wrong way.... oh well.

Sales-101. If that's frustrating to people, then maybe they have issues dealing with the public. Politely answer the question and move on.

Pretty much. Believe me - as a long-time seller I have a laundry list of gripes that all have basis in an experience w/ a buyer or potential buyer. But - I want your money. And, I'm going to do what I have to to get it. Be nice , describe stuff accurately, and ship quick. The customer is rarely right but you have to make them think that you think they always are... cheap tactics? threats? Really???? And I thought all this time I was just asking questions and being a good eBay member.... guess I'm not the right sort for eBay, you know me better than anyone I suppose though. oh well, 12 years, 100% approval, over 300+ transactions.... out the window! guess I'm done! Wow, I'm turning into the sarcastic guy I hate, sorry.
