Squier Pro Tone Thinline Telecaster

I just bought a Squier Pro Tone Thinline Telecaster it looks as good as new except the gold hardware is a bit faded.

Was $159.00 a good price?

if it's in good shape, you paid a good price. i bought one last summer for ~$190 and felt like i stole it - it was just like new.

Are you kidding us? $159 is an unbelieveably great deal! I paid $350 for mine a couple of years ago, and I thought that was more than fair. Who could be so naive that they would sell one of these for only $159? Take a good look at the guitar, and you'll realize how well-built and beautifully-finished it is. I looked at MIM Thinlines before I bought mine, and decided that I prefer the ProTone.

For the price that you paid, you could spend serious money to upgrade the pickups (if you wish), and still not be in over your head money-wise.

The gold finish on mine was a little tarnished when I got it. I used some of my wife's jewelry polish (carefully) and it shined right up. That was three years ago, and it still looks great.

I think this is gonna be a "when they pry it from my cold dead fingers guitar." :D

Thanks for your kind offer but I'll just have to take my lumps on this one.

On my way home tonight, I stopped by a local shop that I don't get by much (Granny's Music, OKC) and was surprised to find a Pro-Tone strat - it's the one with the ugly (to me) trans-blue/green stain on ash, gold hardware and maple fingerboard. After our posts about them today, I couldn't believe my having found this one with very little play time on it (from appearance) & $249 on the tag. I didn't even plug it in, just checked out the neck, looked it over good then talked the cat to $199 and put it on layaway. If I hadn't just picked my Blazer up from the shop today (having dumped $740 on some front-end work and new shocks) it would be here at home with me.

There's not a bit of fret wear, all stock hardware, etc. I hope to pick it up in a couple of weeks; I'm still a little sore from the mechanic.

Crazy. Oh, yeah, every one of these ash bodied (veneer ?) Pro-Tones have been way too heavy for me to want to play, but this one feels very much the same weight as my 60's Classic Tele and it's right at 7 lbs.
