NGD - Partscaster
I got back home from my two week swing working away to find a nice bunch of parcels waiting for me.
![]() My purchase from Warmoth finally arrived. There's no off-the-shelf Tele that i'm happy with, so I decided to build my own. BSB or bust. ![]() 22-fret neck with a modern profile. Frets look like they're made of brass, but i'm guessing it's just tint overspray that'll soon wear off. ![]() All the other goodies. Joe Barden bridge with compensated saddles, Twang King pickups, and the rest needed to piece it together. ![]() Anyway, i'll put it together in the next day or so, and post up pics of the running progress. I forgot to order some ferrules and a jack plate, so hopefully I can source them from a local music store rather than waiting another two weeks for the parts to arrive. |

Very nice!! I just completed a parts Esquire. Mine also has Warmoth body and neck. The frets are just sprayed with the neck finish - it rubs right off ( I used my strings once it was ready to play lol). Congrats!!

Go man go! I am at this point now ... just partscasting my own, or getting help with things that are beyond me still. But I think you'll like it better than a 'stock' Fender and you may even find it to be better built (by you) than by them in a factory. So, have at it, go easy, and be the Tele!

Well I just woke up, so time to get cracking. I did a mock assembly last night and have found a couple of issues to resolve. Firstly, the screws supplied with my bridge pickup are too long for the body routing... so i'll need to get the grinder out and knock a couple of mm of each thread. But, it's sunday morning so i'll give it a few hours so the neighbours can sleep in.
![]() Also - I can't decide whether I want to body mount or scratchplate mount the neck pickup. Body mount would be neater, but it's a lot more mucking around if the height isn't optimal.

Bridge screws shortened, ready to go. I'm wondering if I can get way with not running a ground to the bridge - my pickup has an extra grounding wire, and there's all metal contact from the bridge to this ground?
![]() I've body mounted the neck pickup as suggested too... although I didn't sink the pilot holes deep enough and have managed to strip a screw head in the process... time for a trip to the hardware store. Meanwhile, tuners are on, but need a final tighten.

Take the extra minute or two to ground your bridge. Worth it, IMO. Don't cut corners on the little stuff after putting so much into the big stuff. Make it perfect. It's going to be a GREAT guuitar, right? Make it great.

I love putting together fake guitars I might buy on GuitarFetish but I always feel like I'm going to forget something if I try to buy it all for real. "Oh man, forgot the pickups! Drag!"
Enjoy |

Electronics are now done, soldered points are nice and strong, and I had a fun time working out cloth shielded wire. Starting to come together.
![]() ![]() FML... I have an absolute knack of damaging a guitar within the first 48 hours of ownership, then keeping it pristine from then on. Bugger, was so purty.

Well, it's pretty much ready to rock apart from a few minor things I forgot on the parts shopping list. It's nothing but a players guitar, but still looks good, feels fantastic in the hands, just needs a bit of tweaking to get it sounding it's best... the neck needs to be a little more concave, saddles raised, and pickup height needs exploring... etc.
All that said, i've owned quite a few Fender's over the years - the neck profile is a carbon copy of an American Stantard strat, but the 'feel' is far more impressive out of the box.
