The neck on these was a big selling point for me. I prefer the smaller "C" shape necks that these have over the fatter 50's necks. I also have an '80's MIJ Custom Esquire, and this neck feels nearly identical to that one.

have you ever played an MIM 60s classic series? Do you know how it compares to that?

Actually, yes I own one of those also. Again, very very similar necks - the same radius, rosewood fretboard, and "C" shape.

Cool, thanks. I have a classic 60s neck on a partscaster and it's fine for me.

HAPPY NEW GUITAR DAY!
That is a gorgeous tele.
I've been lookin to join the DBTOC, but the only thing standing in my way is the price tag!
I'd kill for the AVRI 62 Sunburst...

What do you think about the pickups? Hows the weight?
Did you play one before you bought it? How does it feel? Hows the neck?

Thanks brother! and congrats again on the glorious axe! :-)

Jury is out on the pickups still, but I've only got a few hours on it so far. The weight is 7.9 pounds. I did get to play a couple of these in advance, but not the one I ended up buying. I love the weight, and the feel of the neck.

I thought about a sunburst, but I'd want one where the seam is invisible or nearly invisible, or at least in the very center. I hadn't come across the combination of low price and a sunburst that I liked. I'm very happy with the black though. The only other choice was the surf green, which I also like, but the binding just doesn't 'pop' on those, you know?

And regarding a previous question about the neck - it is maple, with a rosewood fingerboard, and I love the nice dark rosewood on mine.

And thanks everyone for the congratulations. My face is starting to hurt from all the smiling. It is a wonderful guitar.

Yeah, that is really nice. I thought maybe it was ebony.

Can't stop looking at the OP's pictures.
Now that I had my mind set to the surf green one...
Not sure anymore.

Nice.

I think those Alnico 3 staggered pole bridge pickups are the sweetest things going.
