New FSR Day
I recently made a deal that included my American Special and found myself without a Tele, a situation that needed to be corrected! I was really thinking a used MIM standard and swap the pups for Texas Specials, then I stumbled on the FSR ash in cherry sunburst with Texas Specials that GC/MF/etc. sell. Figured it was worth a try for a pretty unique finish and the pups I wanted. They even honored the 15% off coupon.
It arrived yesterday. I wanted to post my thoughts because I could not find a lot of information on these when I was researching. This is with about 5 hours play time so far. I was surprised that it came with a gig bag. There's no mention of it in any of the ads. All I've done is tune it up and play it. The action could use some tweaking, but it's good enough to enjoy for a while first. Plays very nice and stays in tune. Very lively acoustically. Pickups are great. Bridge has the twang. These are definitely hot! Sweet clean with raunch a twist of the volume knob away. The bridge has flat pole pieces, not staggered like the custom shop Texas Specials, so these are something different. They are definitely not the normal Mexican ceramics. I have a Wilkinson Vintage bridge that I was planning to install with new strings. Not so sure now. The modern bridge sounds like a Tele should. We'll have to see what happens. ![]() I'll let the pictures speak for themselves as far as looks. Personally I'm quite taken with it. Weighs 7 pounds 11 ounces on my digital package scale. Overall I'm really happy with it and expect the honeymoon to last quite a while! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Clearly 2 seams in the end, but it's hard to see from the front or back

I was so close to buying one of those, wish I had now!, but I got the FSR ash noiseless and don't regret it. These new mexican guitars just blow away the older MIMs and for sure on par with if not better than Squiers latest guitars.
Cool guitar man! |

Had that model for about 4 months and was absolutely impressed with it! The pickups are very sweet sounding. There are some earlier posts on this guitar, and some comments about it being "too heavy". Never was a problem for me. Unfortunately I sold it off after I found my brand new 2009 "Texas" Hwy 1.
