Well played indeed, but probable more by its former owner, John Maus of Walker Brothers fame. He was the one who made the contours in the front and back, and the guitar looked rather reliced when Jeff bought it from him after W.B. had moved to England in 1965.

Thanks ... I may be a doctor, but Mark is the real specialist!

But I'm actually a big fan of both Jeff and The Walkers.

According to Beck,he had to pay John Maus 75 Pounds. That was only 10 Pounds less than what a new one would cost but he wanted one with a maple neck.

Correct! ... Jeff gave 75 pounds for it, and the price of a new one was 85 pounds. But the new ones at that time had a rosewood fretboard and Jeff wanted a maple one.

Yes,I edited my post while you were writing!I think 75 pounds for a `54 was a better deal than 85 for a new `65 Tele or Esquire.

Yes, it is.

Check out the grain pattern of the ash body in the beveled/sanded areas. Identical.

Great vid!

I noticed you have a Boxer. We had one when I was a kid and I still think of him often. Such gentle and sweet dogs.

Ha, he did peek in a little. He is a great dog, my second boxer. This one was a show champion and is pretty mellow for a boxer. LOVES my son.

I got to see that guitar at close range back in the '80's at a little guitar show in Mill Valley, CA. Seymour Duncan brought it up and had it on display. I didn't get to play it, but I got close enough to breath on it. That's one of the most iconic guitars in my world along with Clarence White's sunburst and James Burton's red and paisley Teles.

It looks like what an eBay seller would call used-like new.

Same guitar in both pics.

In the pic I posted it was way eariler than the other one posted, probably from the 60's so it had more wear in the OP's pic.
