Esquire build

A Swamp ash body and MM maple neck with a rosewood board has come my way. It shall grow up to be an esquire.

So after sanding down it's out with the filler/sealer and the tru-oil.

After a couple of coats of tru-oil

Decal comes via the talents of tdpri's very own J.Bennett,well recommended.

My first attempt at levelling and crowning the frets,seems to have worked out well.

I got myself some walnut burl veneer to make a pickguard.Initial mockup shows it goes well with the ash I think.

The arrival of a Cavalier Lion pickup made by Rob DiStefano allows me to align and fit the neck and bridge.

Don't use the crappy screws that come with aftermarket string trees. sigh.

I'll tell you what I wish xtrajerry,I wish I could plug it in and listen to it. Due to being a little...over generous with solder application I managed to ruin the 3 way switch,so I must wait until another arrives.

Every day's a schoolday in tdpriland.

Thanks,I wouldn't be a big fan of 'gold' hardware myself and I don't think I'll do it again,but it looked right to me this one time.

I usually don't care for pickguards but a wood one works for me [I have a maple p/g on my P-bass]. That and the unique design really rocks.

Can't go wrong with a natural finish either and Tru-Oil is the best IMHO [also on my P-bass].

The gold makes it look extra spicy.

Kudos for NOT using a Fender decal as well.

All-in-all I'd say its a A+++ instrument. WELL DONE!!!

Great work mate I have not tried tru-oil on a body yet I have used it on a maple neck and love the finish enjoy.

Beauty! Very lovely! Congratulations on a great job. And the pickguard really does sit it off beautifully. Very well done!
