Wireless Anyone?

The acoustic guitarist in my band is thinkin' about going wireless. I see that Michael Murphy, Fuzzy and a few others are using wireless guitar systems. What are the good ones & some pro's/con's

I would do just about anything to be able to run wireless. Unfortunately, I can't locate ONE system that I could possibly afford that doesn't ruin any hint of tone. (just my opinion, but to me there is a very noticeable diffrence.) Acoustic on the other hand, might be a diffrent story. Depending on the electronics, (for simplicity's sake I'll assume it's just a pre-amped piezo) you only get the sound that the crystal manufactures, and not the actual sound of the guitar anyway. So with a full band mix, a little sterile digitalization might not be bad, it may even help it cut through a little better. All of this is just spur of the moment theorization, but that being said, I know alot of guys that are using the "shure" systems. I'm not sure of the model, but I think they are around 200-300 bucks at your local big-box wal-mart style music retailer. And just so I don't get totally flamed, I'll include that I do around a dozen acoustic gigs a month, all with "just a pre-amped piezo" and I wasn't rippin' on 'em at all, just stating facts :) .

love wireless...

I have a Samson Airlite that is great..as long as ya ain't playin a Tele...won't work in a Tele...so the Shure works in there... but I love the freedom of a wireless....just takes alittle time to get the right tone...but it's really easy to compensate ....The Airlite is the most transparent of all of them out there....it's a shame that ya can't use it with a Tele tho........don

Wireless?

I play in a lot of old, usually poorly wired bars, and the wireless eliminates the shock problem. I bought a Carvin that was being discontinued, and so was $125.00 new. Sounds fine, after working with it a bit to balance volume and tone, and as I mentioned, saves me the worry about whether the building is properly grounded, as well as reducing the clutter of wires...YMMV.

Gots me a Sienhiesser....

Works well with all my guits including acoustic. Four channels, no waiting. Good tone signal playing live but I wouldn't use it for recording. Lots of bells and whistles for adjustments.

Pretty pricey, but you get what you pay for...
