Does anyone have a Fender guitar strap?

I am making a Fender style strap for a friend, could anyone please tell me the dimensions of the shoulder pad, as well as distance from edge of holes strap goes through.

I would really appreciate it

Thanks in advance,

Eric

SORRY ... in between measuring and finishing my post, SWMBO had to be ed-ye-cated on US Tax Structures. That took awhile and you got a far better answer than mine. Though I maintain the width really is 2 3/8 in on mine.

I have one ... here's how it measures ... and keep in mind it's not a perfectly rectangle shape, but like a radius curve (a chunk of an arc).

Length: 10 3/8 in
Width: 2 3/8 in

Strap slots: centered 1" and 2" from each end (slots are rounded and ~7/8" long)
Stitching is about 3/16" from edges.

Hope this helps.

Width at center of the pad is 2 1/8".

TeleKato, mine must be a newer one, just like Oreo's company's are making things smaller so they can make a buck

I think I'm going to make mine a bit beefier, probably 2.5 width, with an option for 3" for those who want it. Also an option for a 1" strap instead of 3/4"

You know the thing I don't like about mine is the pad slips on the strap.

I like my guitar at a bit of an angle (headstock up at about 45º) and it sides down while playing and you have to yank it up a tad just like if you don't have a belt in your pants.

I've read about that problem, I plan to make the tolerances tighter to avoid that, should fix the issue

My strap has a nice little story, which I'll bore you with here.

I stopped in to 'candy-store shop' at Chuck Levin's here in Wheaton MD, and as I was wandering I found a nice hard-shell fender case ... the one kinda shaped on one side like the thermometer, but flat on the back. I think it's like a $100 case. Anyway, it's with a pile of junky stuff and no price -- so I ask and the guy points out the handle is busted so it's an "unload special." How much? $15 he replies. SOLD!

I'll have to get around to repairing the handle, but the bonus was I open the little cubby inside and lo and behold ... a black, leather, vintage Fender guitar strap! Now maybe that comes standard on these things ... whatever: Hardshell case (with some repair required) and a vintage strap -- $15. Reggie for 3 ..... BOOM BABY! Score!

I have a monogrammed one. That's one hardcore piece of crap (in a good way, it's an amazing strap)
