NGD - Exchanged Belly Cut for Non Belly Cut (couple new pics 4-28)

Ok all....so I went down to check out the B Bender today..after 2 minutes I knew I didnt want it. While I was there I tried an Empress...WAY too light for me..pretty though. So I was ready to walk out with my 2012 still at my side..as I was packing up, a Sunburst 2011 caught my eye...so me, being me, I had to try it. Of course it sounded beautiful..Im not going to sit and tell you it was the most amazing thing I've ever heard..nothing that dramatic. It just sounded very sweet..like a Tele. My very first Tele was a 2003 Sunburst Am. Std. Tele and I have always regretted trading it off, and I had and played it while my dog Daisy was still with me..so there is an emotional connection there...so...2012 was exchanged for this beauty. Dont get me wrong..the 2012 is great..but this one won me over..and I am happy to have non belly cut again Also love being able to see the wood grain..and its stunning in person, on this one!!

Oh..and the case smells just like the one that came with my 03..

Must say..I find this extremely attractive..tee hee

Does the one you have now have alnico vs or ov pickups in it? From the color I was wondering if it was a 60th anniversary, or just the american standard with the 60th plate on it.

Way to go, Andy!!! I was wondering how it would end up. I am happy for you. All in all, if you love it - you made the right move.

It's very nice and I love the grain. It looks like the one that I started out with, remember this thread? It ended up here.

I loved that 2-tone finish and the the way it felt. I wish you all the best. Enjoy!!!

BTW... I'll be interested to hear your thoughts as you compare the pups on the '11 to your ol' 12. I bet you'll like them better :)

Funny how things turn out in the end. Conga-rats!!!

I bought a 2011 AS Tele 3T SB. I sold a '52 AVRI, and I don't miss it since I got the AS, I think it's what I have been looking for all along, just didn't know it. The neck on the American Standard Tele and Strat (have both) fit me perfectly, better than anything else I've ever tried, or owned.

Me, too.
That wood grain is nice.
Did you ever say if that was a two-tone or three tone?
-I can't really tell by the pics, it looks like a 3...

Theoretically, the two-tone has "better" wood, and as a result is a couple of hundred dollars more.

I love my 3TSB, though.
(I had a 2012 Am Special, but this 2011 just sounds and feels better to me).

:edit HNGD, btw!!!

Thank you, BackNtheSaddle!! And I appreciate your comments and advice.
I played for a bit when I got home, and she sounds sweet!! Had to jump back on the computer to finish up work...and surf the TDPRI..tee hee..but Im almost done!! Definitely a difference in the neck pick up..took me a bit to hear it, but it's there. Not that I didn't like the neck pu in the 2012, but definitely a little different. The bridge pu..Im pretty equal on as of right now.

But I'll keep ya posted :)

And that 60th BGB you have...WOW!!! That thing is gorgeous! Hows it working out for you?

I hope you have a blast getting to know it better and figuring out the neck pup. I'm betting you will like it better than the '12, as you dial it in and get used to it. That was the only thing that I really did not like on the '12 that I played in the store. I actually was neutral on the belly-cut.

Go play the **** out it for a few days

Thanks for asking about the 60th. So far - GREAT. I need to steel wool the neck to get that glorious feeling that you have with the AS satin finish. The nitro is too sticky for my sweaty hands and I can't wait for it to wear. But, loving it.

Other than the neck pup, what other differences are you finding between the '11 & '12? Belly cut notwithstanding, of course?
