Should I Purchase???? Help!

Hello there, I have been playing acoustic guitar for a couple years now and want to start playing electric and of course I NEED a telecaster.

Here is what a friend of a friend is selling:

Custom Built 86 American Body, 50th Anniversary Strat Neck, Natural Worn Finish, Antiquity II pickups.

For $275. No issues, just needs the money to fix his car. Here is a pic!

You only need to post the thread once.

Don't sweat it, its no big deal. If you post in the wrong section the mods will either move it or just leave it where you posted. Welcome to the forum!

That's a good price for the body neck and pups, it's quality stuff. How it's put together is another matter. How does it play? If it plays well and you like it, sounds like a good deal.

I like the way the body and neck look together. the pickguard is atrocious, I would change it immediately.

It just depends on how it feels to you. Based on what you've said, the price is good as long as you like the way it plays.

Spend some time playing it and do some evaluating, don't forget to play it unplugged for a good portion of the try-out.

Similar dough would land you a used MIM or CV tele, which are both good guitars, but not as much upside as this one on paper, to use a couple of sports clichés, but it just depends on how it feels to you.

Hahahaha! Regarding the pickguard I was thinking the exact same thing. I do indeed love the natural wood look.

And you're right, I will definitely play around with it and see how it feels. I'm pretty anxious to start playing electric, been wanting to for a while now!
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

$275? I don't think you could go wrong with that.

Don't waste your money ,it's not a tele , once you put a strat neck , for that money get yourself a squire thinline vintage you will be able to play it acoustically and you will find yourself playing it more this thing will sit in the corner of your room.

Yeah, I was contemplating changing the neck as well. The price is just so darn good lol

Good price...IF it's a good guitar. But that pickguard has to go, it may work on a Strat but has no business being on a Tele.

Play it. You like it, buy it. Hard price to beat. And I dig gaudy pickguards. If it speaks to you, then you can help a brother out.

If you decided to change it out, you could probably sell the strat neck and buy a tele on ebay or some place and come out pretty much even. It is worth the asking price. I also would ditch the pickguard, maybe go black.
