Yes that is a great present. Does he play or will he learn? I don't think you mentioned that.

Thanks all.

He is learning. I have been working with him for about a year now and he is a quick study. I hope he is better than me soon...

What a great Dad you are! I did this for my step-son a few times since his Mom and I got married. Both Christams & his B-Days! He is a very talented kid, and I am proud to be in his life. He is in piano & saxaphone lessons (his choice), and I taught him some guitar. Then last year, he asked for a ukulele! Within a couple weeks of last Crhistmas, he had5 or 6 songs mastered! Great kid!

And by the way, Happy (belated) B-Day to your son!

Very cool! I love to see the next generation taking an interest. To me seeing those smiles is what life is all about.

Great looking guitar, the perfect gift! like others have said, the look on his face says it all... and it's sunburst too! my favorite.... It's such a great thing when parents encourage their kids to play an instrument, and the guitar dads are the best..... the drummer dads are the craziest though

When my daughters were teens, one Christmas my youngest wanted a set of drums, so I got her the drums and the other daughter a guitar and amp(cheapy). Neither one ever really played them and they landed in my shop. I hadn't play in ten years and while I would workout I would rest between reps and play the instruments. That's how I started back after ten years of not playing.

I can't thank them enough.

My daughter is an LP kinda gal. Surprised her with a second-hand LP Custom Black Beauty for her 16th birthday. I snuck away from the dining table where we were celebrating her birthday, and played "happy birthday" using my best Hendrix imitation. Should have seen the look on her face!

Way to go Dad. I've gotten to see the same type expression on my son's face 5 times. It never gets old.

This is sooo wonderful - his face says more than any words could.

My sons are all grown.........but I'm doing same with my oldest grandson now.

You both are very fortunate!

To jjpish68: judging from the look on your son's face, he appreciates the great gift. Good for the both of you.

To swleamon: 11 is still pretty young for this sort of thing, so who knows what time may bring. But geez, he's inundated with it at home, toured Corona, hangs with the heavies and lives in Nashville for crying out loud. Sorry bud, but it sounds like the deck is stacked against you.

Great story! I think the Highway One and American Special Fenders are some of the best bargains out there.

A plus dad and your son has a good taste in guitars. My dad and I went to a pawn shop and saw a MIM strat. He could tell I was interested and paid on the spot. That was back in October. I still had the same feeling every time I pick it up
