I was going to get a Rickenbacker tattoo but my arm's not long enough.

Nice ink, you should definitely send pic to Fender. My squier tattoo cost less than yours, but i'm in the process of modding it.

You really did misspell it.

I have four tattoos. All of them are crap, but none of them include a free advert for multi-million dollar company.
I have a Sun Record Company tat in the same place....It's not about advertising a company - It may very well do that whether it's actually your intent or not - It's about the history and legacy and what it did for music as we know it.

That's nice work. I love ink. I personally probably wouldn't put a company logo on my body but that's just my own thing. If I saw that on someone else I'd think "Cool!"

So, cool. And congrats.

I've been thinking about the Fender/Gibson dichotomy for some time. I really do love a lot of Gibsons. Their acoustic instruments--especially vintage ones--are great. I'd take a Gibby acoustic guitar over a Martin as a general rule.

I also have always thought Les Pauls were classy and classic and beautiful and I've had GAS for something 335-ish for decades.

I'm also a fan of a lot of Gretsch stuff.

But overall I'm a pretty dedicated Fender man myself. You can always cram some HBs in 'em if you want or need. I love the engineering behind them. I love their history. I love the fact that they are typically easier to repair, tear down, modify, etc.

Yeah, the guy should have what he wants. I can dig the whole "It's the history more than being a schill for some coproration" thing.

I saw a guy once with an old "Flying A gasoline and Petroleum Products" tattoo. It was cool, Rockabilly vibe to it.

On the other hand, I once saw a guy with the "Nike swoosh" logo tattooed on both sides of his neck. That kinda made me wince.

But it's personal tastes and different strokes. People get tat designs that have meaning for them personally. Who am I to judge?

+1!
I hate when people put those chinese things on their arms. At least people can understand what that says!
Seriously, stop with the criticism, let him enjoy it. Cool tattoo man, but I don't think I'm ever gettting a tattoo.

Well, this tattoo dates your arm at between '64 and '68 (incl).

Of course when other players see you around town or in the pubs, they're gonna want to know if you're vintage or a reissue.
