Anyone in regular touch with Ron Ellis?

Hi
I posted another thread about contacting Ron Ellis. I have tried phoning and leaving messages and emailing but I have heard nothing.

If anyone knows him, I would appreciate it if you could let him know I have been trying to contact him.

I contacted Paypal about the payments I made but they can't recover the funds as I have waited more than 45 days.

There isn't much I can do as I am in London, England, so if anyone is in Carlsbad or the vicinity, maybe they could let Ron know. It would be great to hear from him and get this sorted out.
Many thanks
Roger

How does a picture of a man in pyjamas help? Or are you trying to be funny? You're not

That's what my wife says too.

It would take a bit of TDPRI history and knowledge of american baseball to understand.

Best of luck.

You know, us Yanks sometimes have trouble with the British sense of humor too ....

What your former colonists are saying is that this seems to be something that has occurred before. Maybe not with this one fellow -- but in general.

We're not laughing at you, Mate ... we're crying with you. I do hope it turns out well. If only to make up for that unpleasantness at Yorktown.

Well I just don't get Gandhi in pyjamas, waving his arms about...

I'm crying too, I sold off my lovely Martin and some other nice bits to fund this Tele project, pickups was the first stage, back to square one now, I really don't know if I will continue with my 100% USA sourced Tele now.

I have been very lucky so far, I guess, as all my dealings with the old colony have been superb, nothing but good service and good products, along with kindness, advice and friendship.

I was trying to say something without saying it. But subtle isn't really me.

Alan Hamel built "The Best, everyone wants them", tele pickups. He flaked on many people. Ron was his business manger at one time, bought parts for Alan, did the communications, tried to get him straight. Ron learned about pickup building from Alan (i imagine he's added his own twist as well). Don't know what happened but Alan quit the biz.

Then Ron built "The Best, everyone wants them" pickups and now, rogb you can finish the story.

I'm sure someone will say "well, you don't know, Ron's busy, does pickups part time, has a new gig w/ Gibson,..." etc.

What I do know is this, with all the bad press that Alan Hamel received for his lack of business acumen and knowing this, I'd be hypersensitive about communicating w/ the people who've sent me their hard earned cash money.

Now let me add that I had dealings with both of them and always received product. I've talked w/ Ron on the phone and take him as a stand up guy so I'm surprised that this is happening. When Ron took up building pickups I made the decision to work with a different pickup builder because I needed pickups delivered in a predicable manor.

That builder is David Budz, he's a stand up guy, he's one of the good ones and he builds the best pickups I've used. I get my pickups at the very latest, two-three weeks from my order.

The man in the pajamas is Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra, famous in baseball and famous for saying "it's deja vu all over again".

Thanks for the background, I wish I knew all that before I ordered, all the info I had was "these pickups are the best" so I went ahead and sent my money to a stranger on the other side of the world. Does that sound clever? Er no
I get it now, deja vu, OK that's funny.

I should have done more research before getting PAS... expensive lesson learned, another one

But I guess, "It ain't over 'til it's over" eh?

If you don't think the pickups are worth the wait, ask for a refund. I was under the impression that he did not take prepayments anymore.

Well you're wrong there. I contacted Ron back in December and asked him to put me in the line. I knew it would be 7 months or so. He certainly wanted the money up front.
If you write and phone the man, and he doesn't answer, who would you see about getting the refund from? Just interested to know.

I also gave up my right to Paypal yanking back the cash by waiting patiently, like an English gentleman, and giving a busy man the benefit of the doubt, for Ron to reply. This took me outside the 45 day limit on disputed transactions.

Send him an invoice via paypal requesting money, It's easy, and you'll get a response.

And I wasted all these years being a cricket fan, when I could have been deja vuing all over again.

Mind you cricket gave us the easily as good classic "The batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey"

Holding was a famous West Indian cricketer, Willey an English one.
See who says "Limeys aint got no sensayuma"

OK seems a good idea, I'll try it. Let you know what happens.
If it works, it will be known as the "fezz parka mod #2" I guess.
