Tasteful(tasteless?) Random Act of Kindness (Completed)

(Edit) Already found a home

I have a new, never used, Warmoth strat pickguard
Specs:3-ply tortoise shell/shielded/11 screw/ 3 single-coil configuration. It was originally intended for the one and only strat in my stable, but I ended up using a different one. Anyway, I'm never gonna use it, so I thought I'd like to find a deserving home for it here on the TDPRI- at no charge.

I like to give it to someone who has a need for it, but is perhaps on a tight budget. The thing only sells for $28 plus shipping, so don't be a greed-head or a cheapskate and ask for if you can well afford one or just plan to turn around and sell it. Perhaps a son or daughter of one of you folks that would appreciate it, but maybe can't afford one.

This is on the honor system. So if you or a family member fit the bill, send me a PM and I'll ship it out to you( I'll pay for shipping, but there is a limit to my kindness--continental US only please) If I don't respond to your PM, it only means some deserving, hopefully honest soul already got it. I'll update this thread after it's spoken for.

The only thing I ask in return is for you pass on a similar favor to a fellow guitar player when you are in a position to do so. (yeah, I know, I'm weird.)

Thanks,
John

I'll share my story of kindness...

Once I bought my Martin 00-15 (and before it was delivered) I was worried that an all-mahogany guitar would sound dark....

A very nice person from either the TDPRI or Harmony-Central (can't remember which, it was a few years ago), sent me a set of brass bridge pins with abalone inserts for free (brass pins brign out a little brighter sound).

I was so impressed that ever since, when I can afford it, I try to do the same type of thing for other players.

You're not weird...

If you are weird, we could do with a lot more weird people in the world like you! This is an extremely generous act - good on ya.

Oops, sorry Paul-- I'll make a note of that. I don't often check out the garage sale. Posted this early in the AM after a late shift at the good ol' Bulk Mail Center. Woke up today and worried that maybe this post might come across wrong. I'll make amends by sending in a server upgrade donation :D ( Now there's random act of kindness we should all consider)

Anyway, just found a good home for it with a longtime forum member.

Don't say.....................

"I'm never going to need it". Cause as soon as you get rid of it you're going to aquire another guitar and say "Wow, that would really look good with a tortise shell pick guard". Happens to me all the time. As soon as I get rid of something thats been layin' around a while I end up buyin' another!

Awesome man. I've done the same on another music-related forum I belong. Reminds me of that movie called "Pay It Forward".

Speaking of "pay it forward" ...

A guy I know who plays locally had a new Les Paul given to him...no strings, just asked that if he ever was in a position to do the same or something similar that he do so...pretty incredible.

I collect old watches and on a site I visit, a guy once offered a strap to the first poster. Well, it was me but the donor then posted that he wanted to keep it local...so...I don`t enter giveaways anymore.
But what you`re doing is very nice... makes me proud to be a member, though I`ve yet to make a donation to this site.

That's still a good deal - strings only cost a few bucks.

I know, I know, but I couldn't resist.
