Newtones and slotted tuners

I'm a big fan of Newtones on my acoustics and I've ordered some Newtone Nickel Masters for my G&L's

They have slotted tuners where you usually precut your strings prior to installing them. Due to the way the strings are made they suggest (insist) that you don't cut them until they are brought up to pitch.

Does anyone use these strings with slotted tuners and if so how do you go about installing them??

I amnot familiar with Newtones. I don't know what would preclude handling their string in the proper manner one should use with other strings. Wound strings should never be cut before making a 90 degree bend in the string. Then, make your cut past the bend. This prevents the winding from turning loose from the core and therby ruining the string.
What specifically does Newtone say about their string that demands cutting only after bringing to tension? Does this apply to the plain strings also? I am curious.
If you want to hold true to what youunderstand to be Newtone's instructions, then the hole in the slotted tuner machine shaft cannot be used. Treat the slot as if it were the hole in a non-slotted shaft, bring the string to pitch and then cut.
