Another Squier Bullet post...maybe...can anyone identify??

Hey
I just bought this guitar from a pawn shop for 130 clams. Has a Squier Bullet neck, and tuners are stamped Fender Japan. Neck is really sweet. I'm not sure if the body is original or not. I'm not familiar with these guitars. Anyone have an opinion? If I take it apart will I be able to tell? What should I look for? I guess it doesn't really matter. It plays very well, and the pickups sound good.

bump

hmmm

Either I didn't give enough information for anyone to make an educated guess....

or nobody knows.....

or the right person hasn't seen my query as yet....

I'll bump this once (please forgive) before it slides off into oblivion.

looks to be a bullet neck on a tele body of some sorts, more than likely import, and more than likely non-fender. looks like a johnson to me. great deal though, those necks only aught to be worth your purchase price.

Those squier Bullet necks are killer, if you like vintage frets and radius. I've had a few of them, the necks are 1st class. I believe that Junior Brown uses that exact same neck on his Guit-Steel instrument. Not sure on the rest, but it looks fine, and the 3 steel saddle bridge should be great for twang, don't fear a toploader, they can sound just fine.

I pulled the neck off...its an '84 model. I pulled the pick guard off...its a mess! somebody did a route job for a middle pickup at some point... not too bad...but definately not a pro job...and the wiring is awful. i'm suprised it works. i'll need to redo the whole thing. ah, a project.... but for now, i just put it back together. it actually sounds really good. i'll have to pick up another player before i tear this one down. maybe i'll paint it....hmmm... now that i have a tele, i want another.

That whole package looks pretty cool! My thought is if it works and sounds good why do anything at all?

yeah, i'm starting to come to that conclusion. the neck pickup on this guitar is awesome. i've always been a sucker for somewhat microphonic pickups anyway, and this one has a cool vibe that is tough to find. I'm going to play it till it breaks...which may be never! and the finish is in reasonably good shape...so why mess with it? yup yup. i lucked into a player.

    I'd say! Bullet necks rock!

Plus, what fun is a pickup if you can't holler into it and hear it through the amp?

    pawn shop special

like that bullet neck with the good ol' skunk stripe down the back. the only thing i'd change as far as looks is i'd put a regulation switch knob in place of the little white one.
