Ibanez LP bolt neck? Do I need it?
Local pawnshop has an Ibanez LP. Black beauty w/ tarnished gold hardware, 2 P-90s, bolt neck, kinda beat but in a cool way. Has a "Super 70s" sticker on the back of the unbroken headstock. Kinda not my type of guitar but those P-90 style pickups have me curious. Not sure if there's a case. $260.

hey lew......
im a big fan of japanese guitars especialy from the 70s,i like stuff that has survived. if this guitar is not really your cup of tea it would be a shame to buy it and tear the pickups out and have the body lay around the house.these guitars have a certain magic for certain people,(like me) who are willing to overlook alot of negitives to have aguitar with that vibe you can only get from old japanese clones. play it some more and see if you really like it. peace :D

Picked one up at a garage sale yesterday for $50.00.This one has humbuckers and cherry sunburst finish with a bolt on neck.Looks good from a distance, but there are big hollow areas under the top veneer and the tuners are pretty cheesy. This one also has the "super 70s" sticker on the back of the headstock. I figured cleaned up and set up I could probably get $200-250 for it-maybe I should go higher......

I've never understood the fascination, but lotsa people like
...bolt on neck, big gaping gap where that bolt-on meets (on the ones I've played), cheesy white plastic inlays, 14 pieces of plywood make up the body, hollowed cavity under the veneer top... Hard for me to figure out what's to like? I bought one in a pawn shop about 3-4 yrs ago and slapped it one eBay and quadrupled my money. Wierd.
But lotsa people dig 'em, and that price you saw is prolly on the low side. I will say, the sound on the one I owned long enuff for someone to buy it off eBay did have decent tone. But to me, an LP/LP copy MUST have a set neck, I cannot stand to look at it otherwise!! Git it if you dig it! -Eric

The gap is because the top is pressed birchply, not maple. Remember Gibson picked a carved top because it was harder to copy!
They are great low-bux alternatives - usually can be setup to play as good or better, light, and the Super 70's hummers are very good. The necks are medium and quite playable.
