I picked MOTS, only because there's already at least one blond 50s classic with a black guard in Austin...mine! Actually the black looks great, I wouldn't change it.

None of the above

The Callaham parchment white guards look very cool on the white blonde finishes, just a bit faded/older than the brilliant white stock guards. I think the black looks way better on butterscotch, or even Nocaster blonde, but not that good on white blonde. YMMV.

Black...

I just put a 50s black pickguard on my blonde/maple Highway 1...it had red tortoise which was actually very nice, but I prefer the black...this month anway.

I like white on blondes with rosewood boards, but black if it has a maple board...just looks good to me. 8)

black or white

I like mine with its stock white. That parchment white one from Callaham looks nice too. But I'm about ready to try a Fender black bakelite on mine.

If it's that see-thru white blonde then either black or white looks great.

Go Black

The first Tele I ever heard played in anger was Robbie Robertson's old Black scratchplate model in the early sixties when he was backing up Ronnie Hawkins
Although I have had 5 teles and a few Strats since then
I still want one like that -- Maybe a project for this year
( current one is Black with a black pearloid scratchplate-looks very smart but ??)You know- First love etc.
Regards
Mike

Did you ever get the black Fender bakelite guard on your Tele?

Here's one I made by glueing some soft leather to a pickguard.

I think a clear pickguard with gold paint sprayed on the back side (ala Gretsch) would be nice.

Black, cos....

... you got a maple neck. I put a white guard on my recently completed blond Partscaster, simply because it has a rosewood neck, and the white seemed to look better.

But with the maple neck, IMHO, I would favour the black....
