No solution
Quote:
the problem with that is that the american standard/series guitars have 3 holes in the bridge plate as opposed to 4 on the vintage so they won't line up. They are not compatible.

not only 3 vs. 4 holes
The mounting screws are an issue, but also the string-through holes are reversed on Am. Std. bridges. The mouting holes are behind the string holes...
It's not impossible, but it's one of those "you can't get there from here" things. |

Oh well
That's yet another lesson I have learned here. I must be fast approaching a full 1% Fuzzyite.
Seriously, that is what is so fantastic about this place, you NEVER stop learning.

Here are the steps
1) Buy a vintage bridge
2) Mount it with you own wholes. Make sure it cover everything (pick up route and AS wholes) 3) Turn it over. Drill your own whole using the stringthrough wholes as a guide. Measure two times, cut ones. You don't want to mount it wrong on the first go, or you will end up with an extra set of wholes in your guitar. |

Or if you can wait about another month, Joe Barden is releasing his vintage-style American Standard replacement bridge in July (at about half the cost of the big guys.....

No, it won't.
That's a picture of Joe's regular vintage bridge. The Am. Std/Se version he is releasing next month will be a direct replacement..... -M, CMS.TH-MEHL#316

OK....
Yeah, the Vintique does have four mounting holes. You definately gotta drill new ones to install it. Not sure if they encroach on the old original holes or not, so plugging the old ones may or may not be necessary..... -Michael Charter Member S. Texas He-Man Emoticon Haters Local #316
