Tuned down to 'D', better sound?

I have been playing my Tele tuned down to 'D' (D-G-C-F-A-D) for a week now. I must admit that I really like the sound. Does anyone of you tune your guitar to D (or E-flat) for better (fatter and twangier) sound?

Sure, it's a good excuse ...

for owning extra Tele's!

I usually have one tuned down a step, great for blues!

I keep one guitar tuned to D for fake baritone lines. It's pretty fun, it definitely sounds different than E. I think Pete Anderson did some fake bari licks with a tele tuned to D on a couple Dwight tunes.

Down a whole step in "D"

Sure do, a very low down sound, I have recorded some in this tuning and so did Jimi...
Take a Listen to the Live Voodoo Child from Electric Ladyland, It's in D, but Jimi is playing in E.
I recorded this on my Soulful Blues cd and got a Big ol sound on a Red Tele with neck Van Zandt Strat pup.

It's John Fogerty's secret. Some of his biggest hits like Proud Mary and Bad Moon Rising are in that tuning. He keeps his LP Classic in that tuning and always plays it on these songs. It's a really cool way to get something to sound a little different.

d is great-

but for real big fun, i have a pitch shifter which actually drops my normally tuned broadcaster down to "B" and holy moly-definitely gets that ghost riders marlboro theme kinda grind-whats really interesting is how key/pitch affects the sound-

Heck yeah! I actually haven't come out of a D tuning in 6 years on my #1 guitar(s). I also went down to a B on my partscaster. All you need is a big old nut slot and some big old strings. No need for a $200 baritone neck.
