Look What Followed Me Home

I went to Guitar Center last night to find an Albert Lee DVD and walked out with this...

I like it.

Nice!.....

.....I love that color!

I wish they made a "regular" Tele with that color/pickguard combo (in other words, with the normal Tele pickguard).

Very nice looking axe!!

The pickups in it are the 50's type with the white protective yarn. The bobbin is plastic though. I have a Duncan JD in my B-Bender Tele. I'm gonna install the JD in the Thinline just to hear what it'll sound like. The neck pickup is crap but the bridge is nice. I'm going to put a Twang King in the neck and I'm thinking Fralin Blues Special for the bridge.

Any thoughts?

Love the Thinline

Butch,

I have a 69 RI in Shell Pink, (I know, I know). I did swap out brass saddles for the stock steel ones. I picked up a set of the Suhr Fat T pups and swapped them out - big difference from the MIM stock. I probably should have replaced the three-way and pots while I was there but maybe later. I put on a couple of black skirted Fender amp knobs in place of the stock Tele knobs ( like the Muddy Waters Tele ). Schaller strap locks, replaced the butterfly string tree with a modern roller type.

Now I love it! This drives my wife absolutely CRAZY. She just can't understand why I drag home a perfectly good brand new guitar and completely gut it.

Congratulations on the new Thinline, I'm sure you'll love yours too.

I love everything about it! Great colour, pickguard, thinline, maple neck. It all works. I'll take it!

Putting a bridgeplate under the neck pickup worked in terms of reducing treble and adding some compressed vintage flavour. Both my '78 and my new homebrew (52RI pups) sound maybe slightly smoother, but there's not much in it. I haven't changed pots out, I prefer treble response on the Thinline.

JD good, nice, fun

I have a protone thinline, basically the same animal. I put a JD in the bridge and it is perfect for that model. My best sounding guitar.

I threw a fender vintage neck pup and it is fine.

You're gonna love that!

TM, I feel the same way. At the time I got mine, natural was all I could find. The sunburst ones are gorgeous too. As are the blue ones.

Love those thinlines.

that's funny...

...that doesn't look like an Albert Lee DVD!?!?

Kuul git-fiddle dude. That would be my colour choice as well. (I have a strat like that, minus the f-holes that is...)

congrats on a beautiful guitar..

Well, I actually bought the guitar used and that's what was one it. I have seen these new and they come with the black barrel tip. This one works so I'll keep it.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I'll tell y'all this...

The bridge pickup sounds great. The neck pickup is terrible though.

Cheers,
